who will be the new starting 5?

my guess is
SM
EM
TW
TB
SS

EM
DD
TW
CR
AT

Yeah I put AT in there because at this point is it going to get any worse for us down low? SS can start but AT needs to be the next big man off the bench then because it is ridiculous when we have a 7 footer on the floor who doesnt score a single point tonight. I actually laughed when TW took the jump tonight when DC was out there. I understand that TW can jump higher and won the tip tonight but how high does DC have to jump to win a tip? Like I said I don't think it can't get much worse with our down low play this season so why not give him a chance and maybe it works like it worked with WE. WE got decent minutes and he was playing very well. So don't just give AT garbage minutes at the end, but let him feel worthwhile and maybe he will surprise you.

I have no clue. And I honestly don't care. My only goal for this season is to get ALL of our returning players, especially freshmen, valuable game experience in hopes of staying healthy and making a real run next year.

If I had a choice of who I would start, it would go like this -

DD
SM (Important here, SM needs to be the #2)
TW
TB
AT

Go back to our 2006 offense with Cellus, POB, ZA etc. Adjust to the personnel. That used to be our calling card.

Immediatly off the bench would be -

EM
DN
CR
SS
DC

I would make sure EM and DN got heavy minutes.

Develop players, and get ready for 2009. That's what this season should be about from here on out.

It should be this:

EM
DD
TW
TB
SS

I would like this:

EM
DD
TW
TB
AT

It will probably be this:

SM
EM
DD
TW
SS

I am in agreement that Sam from this point needs to be a 2 because he kills us handling the ball...I also though believe he'd be better for us like he was last year in coming off the bench.

Other than that, there's not much that really needs to be said...Collins should never take his warmups off and Theron Wilson should never handle the ball outside 12-ft unless he's taking a shot again either. And if things get any worse outside, I would have a shooting contest for playing time that Darian Norris would more than likely win, giving him the other starting spot...

Unfortunately I don't like 2 really small guards in at the same time and right now we have THREE of them. Teams that can shoot will do just like Butler did to us tonight and carve us up and just shoot over our shorter guards.

If you guys really think that CR won't be a contributor next year that we need to "develop" then you are crazy. He's our best shooter as of right now for both free throws and 3pointers.

If SM puts up another effort that is to the likes of MSU then he shouldn't be starting...but not next game....when now I feel like he is finally taking it to heart and stepping up.

I don't really know what the deal with this team is...really everyone needs to be "developed". There are only 3 seniors and one of them pretty much has to be on the floor. The other can play some minutes and the other chooses when he'll actually show up. So really there's only 1 or 2 guys that don't need "development" or that don't absolutely NEED to be out there...but SS will go out there...and DC well...I don't like to single people out but we should start looking to the future...you're a good guy DC but the point is there isn't enough spots on the floor to "develop" people for next season when you are only using 7 or 8 guys

I like BradleyBrave's suggested line-up. I'd be interested in seeing DD handle the point over SM with Eddren backing-up DD. I like SM a lot, but maybe he can serve us best as a 2 guard.

I posted this lineup last night on another thread.

EM
DD
TB
TW
SS

One reason for this ---- 2 freshmen...1 Junior with past division 1 experience....2 Seniors... I feel at times that we have too many freshmen/underclassmen playing at once...

As for the 5....AT first off the bench to sub for SS... DC stays on the bench with minimal minutes... I would also like for us to pick our spots and utilize AT and SS on the floor at the same time...

I'm solid behind this one. I know people are going to knock this one because there's no SM but if he is not stopping his man then he becomes a huge liability. SM can still score his points but we need to use him more strategically until he improves his ability to play D and as I said before put him at the 2 where he is not thinking about assists but scoring from deep. If this team wants to take it to the next level, the hell with personality contests, we go with who can get us the win. Duke's starting PG for the last 2 years, in his senior year, comes off the bench. There's no I in team and if there is an EGO problem then the coaching staff has to deal with it immediately.

If I was JL, I would get the team ready to play the conference schedule in a way that will keep us out of the play in games and ready to do extreme damage down there. That means getting AT ready because we know with DC and SS in there it is just not going to happen. I believe we have the players and with JW, we can become a pretty good team but it will mean sitting some guys down more then they would probably like.

Maybe the NCAA Clearinghouse hasn't been able to figure out where Nebraska is to get his high school transcripts?

I would like to be able to start EM at PG, but I just don't think he's ready yet. He played a pretty good game last night, but he still isn't at a point to really run the offense. To me, he looks like he dribbles without having an idea where he's going with it. He'll also pick up his dribble when there's no real reason to... Stuff like that. I think he's going to be a very good one for us, and I hope he gets major minutes so he can keep learning, but I just don't think he's quite ready to be a starting PG.

That's why I support BB's lineup above. Dodie's handling the ball best for us right now, doesn't turn it over much, appears to be a good passer, and has some nice offense. I think with SM struggling a bit he might to better in the 2... With EM getting some big minutes so he can progress and be ready to be the man at point.

Not to take this in a different direction, but if the Wilkins family had all of their ducks in line, shouldn't they have had high HS information ready to hand over? Maybe they did, and the NCAA wants more, who knows. Regardless, it doesn't sound like JW is going to be playing basketball anywhere anytime soon.
