Who is the best high school player you have seen play in person?

I have seen so many good ones but I would have to say the best player I've seen in person was Isiah Thomas with Derrick Rose a close second. Some of the best I've worked are Marcus Liberty, Laphonso (sp) Ellis, Kendell Gill, Eric Anderson (N.Y.KNicks),A.C.Earl (Celtics),Mitchell Anderson, Voise Winters,Craig Bardo,Bruce Douglas,Michael Payne. Best area players I've worked,I know I'll forget some but ill try. Mike Robinson Sr,Derek Holcomb, Mark Smith, Doug Altenberger,Doug Lee,David Booth,Curtis Stuckey, Howard Nathan, Chris Reynolds, Ernie Banks,A.j. Guyton,Bo Smith ,Matt Taphorn,Kevin Bontempts,Eric Johnson ( 2nd leading scorer in Galesburg history) so many more I'm forgetting but that's a good start

I saw Iverson the summer he was heading to Georgetown and what a player!

The best HS team I ever saw was the 1980 Dunbar High School of Baltimore. They played my brother's team and killed them. Led by Muggsy Bogues, where he was a teammate of future NBA players David Wingate (graduating class ahead of him), Reggie Williams and Reggie Lewis. Everyone on that team could dunk except Muggs but for some reason he stood out!

Al Smith greatest high school athlete I have ever seen as he was a star at basketball, football and baseball, believe he could have played pro in all 3 of those sports but did play pro basketball.

if anyone was at that game in 1995 at the civic center, you'd say kevin garnett and ronnie fields. real shame about fields--that dunk is forever etched in my memory.

i agree with the guys on this list. for me you can add darius miles to the list. as to the above poster, rashard griffith's king team was incredible, but he wasn't on par with a garnett or even miles.

brian cook was pretty good, too.

we could do a separate thread on your all-time favorite peoria players. oh so many:

shawn livingston, frankie williams, sergio, frank mcintosh, mike robinson, brandon hughes, howard nathan, etc., etc. etc.

I was at that game at the River City Shootout. Ronnie Fields was who came to my mind when I saw this thread. I've never seen anything like him in high school. Never. And I have seen many of the other guys mentioned i.e. all the peoria/springfield guys in the last 20-25 years, range, and others...

houstontxbrave....

Who is the best high school player I have seen play in person?

Do you mean, besides me?

I am also one of the better "shower singers" I have ever heard!

Maybe not the greatest talent, but King's twin towers of Rashard Griffith and Thomas Hamilton vs. Beau Smith and Central in the Field House back in 93' was a very entertaining night of hoops.

I remember the crowd gasping and buzzing when King took the court with the two trees bringing up the rear.

Or maybe it the crowd was enthralled with Sonny Cox's array of gold chains?

as a corollary to this thread...

What is or was the single greatest play or event you ever saw in a high school game???

--as noted elsewhere -- I can still recall clearly a game in which a 5-4 point guard from Bloom totally demolished the reigning State Champs Thornton and put up 55 points..

The best play I have seen includes a player I need to add as one of the best I have worked. I saw Kenny Battle trailing a player going in for a layup, block the shot off the backboard. His momentum carried him out of bounds but he hustled back down the floor and took a pass from a teammate for a thunderous dunk at his end of the floor. A great player I left off my list by mistake. Loved to watch him play.

Watching Howard Nathan walk right over to the opponent's huddle during a time out and stand there, listening in. Hilarious? Yes. Cocky? For sure. Totally awesome? Without question!:D

Jon Scheyer-Was at the game he scored a ton of points in the last minute or whatever
Shaun Pruitt
Dameon Mason
Shannon Brown
Shaun Livingston
Ryan Boatright
Candace Parker
Julian Wright
Heck, even Jamar Smith put on a great show when i watched him in high school
