What If...

The Braves go out and win at MSU and UNI, how will your perception of this team change?

I was thinking about this today, and realized my perception would change pretty dramatically. Right now, I think of them as a 6 or 7 seed for St Louis. If they win these two games, I could see them finishing in the top three.

It would change some, of course.

The problem isn't talent with this group. It's something else. They are not a good closing team right now.

Yes, it would change dramatically. If they win all the remainder of the Valley games and roll through St. Lou, then get a 6 seed in the tournament and make it to the final 4, then yes, my perception of this team would change a TON!!!! I just don't think this team is all that good in it's current state. Off court issues, injuries and the forcing out of an asst. coach at the start of the Valley campaign tend to wear on a team.

I think they have what they need, they just don't have it together yet. Why ? I dont think anyone knows that. And before the Les haters club gets started, I know hes partially responsible, but like I have said before BU is not a team of coaches and players only. We the fans and the community are a part of the TEAM more than anyone realizes and we do affect the play ever so slightly by cheering, booing etc.

What if our support was unconditional ?

Perception would change drastically, BUT IF and only IF they then hold serve at home....

Like I said before, the loss at home v SIU negates the win @ Drake.

You think that would stop them from losing 15 point leads

Not really. I've thought all along this team is talented enough to contend in this league, and for glimpses here and there, they've shown it. While 2 straight road wins against 2 of the league's top teams would certainly be nice, I would need a little more sustained success to make me feel like the ship is righted and that we're gonna be there until the end. Call me a 'Doubting Thomas' I guess; there have just been very few instances over the past 7 years where this team played with any degree of consistency whatsoever.

For me it's the next three games. If they win two big road games and show the home game 2nd half monkey is off their backs I will transition into head exploding excitement mode. I feel the talent is there but as others have said they haven't kept it together.

Can I call you a Debbie Downer?

It may not but it sure couldn't hurt.

Players will feed off of a good, loud, supportive crowd. After the meltdown last night when ISU took a 5 pt. lead, the crowd actually started to rally and get behind the team. I think the crowd helped keep the Braves from folding altogether and made a difference in the outcome of that game.

Yeah the crowd was quiet early...I saw this ONE couple on the BIG SCREEN.....ahhhh, nevermind, I'm sure they rallied during our comeback. :)

I agree completely! I thought the crowd, even though smaller, had its best game in terms of trying to rally the team. There were some boos at times, but there were also times where at the worst points people got up and cheered. That's what the team needs.
