What a game! Bradley 78 DePaul 58

Glad you guys like Drew so far. I graduated with him and he is going to do big things for you guys. His work ethic is fantastic and you will only see him continue to progress.

Nice to see you made it to IU, brebeuf1fan!
You should have a pretty good team to cheer for there for the next 4 years.
Andrew looked very good, indeed.

All about the D

All about the D

This game was so reminiscent of the NCAA Tourney. We won it with Defense, and this effort and confidence carried over to the Offense with good outside shooting.

This DePaul team was loaded with "men". These guys were horses with NBA-sized bodies (ala Pitt and Kansas). But we showed that heart stands for something. We TOTALLY outworked those guys.

If we can play with that kind of effort and defensive intensity we will make it to the NIT (as I predicted awhile back). There will be nights (especially on the road) where we won't hit our outside shot, or ZA will get in foul trouble, and we may get blown out. However, I think this team can win 17-20 games and can at least make the NIT.

And, with a little luck, yajusneverknow! :-o

Quite to the contrary, the Illini board is having a blast with this one.

First, they don't like Wainwright for beating them out on Dar Tucker, and some think shenanigans went on.

Plus they want Bradley to be a good team with a good RPI when they play us in Chicago.

The Illini fans seem to respect Jim Les more than a few local folks.

It sounds like a lot of people around the country have more respect for JL........that's why he's such a "hot" coach right now. Trust me, if BU "fans" don't start treating JL with a little loyalty and respect they can kiss his @ss good-bye. Why would someone stay somewhere only to be questioned, second-guessed, and bashed when the can go somewhere else for twice the money and publicity?

Big game atmosphere. Bradley Win! It can happen all the time if we keep the attendance and excitement up. We could have beaten anyone last night. Can't stand looking at Jerry Wainright. HE is a snake. Can't wait until they are on probation for recruiting violations. It will happen! Big Win GO BU!

While ANYTHING can happen JL is a BU guy. I would be STUNNED to see him go elsewhere.

BU needs to take care of JL...I think they are.

Just in case it hasn't been posted...

Here is the Peoria Journal Star story about the BU-DePaul game
http://pjstar.com/stories/111206/BRA_BBGKFUG7.077.shtml

And in his op-ed piece, the sports editor discovers that Bradley has some pretty good guards!
He even marvels that Daniel Ruffin was not selected preseason All Conference.

Here are some extra comments by Kirk Wessler in his blog,
He was pretty impressed to say the least by ther crowd.

KW's blog is right on the money.......very good points! I also enjoyed the Marcus Pollard video.......very good!

Yes, indeed, the pregame video presentation with highlights and Marcus Pollard
went a long way to building the excitement and enthusiasm.
For those who say the enthusiasm is not high, tell me when was the last time you saw 11,000 all dressed in red screaming their heads off.
I have only seen it maybe 6-8 times in the 26 years I have been attending BU games in the Carver arena, mostly at ISU games.

It was a very good game. :) . It was nice to see every one in to the game and all the red. Only if we could keep it up all year.

That was amazing! Atmosphere is nothing like I thought could ever happen in Carver!!!!!

The atmosphere was great, though there is still some room for improvement. It was a little quiet in the first half, but the first five minutes of the second half in particular shows how electric the crowd can get. It definately reminded me of the NIT days back in the early 90's. I especially liked the "airball" chant against #30 from DePaul. The poor guy probably will never want to come back to Peoria again! :D

I thought the crowd was great. But in my opnion we always would be great if at the beginning of each timeout the PA announcer and the scoreboard would keep quiet and let the band play. 5 of the 10 timeouts last night, that I counted, the crowd and band was quieted as we heard an NBA update, had a pizza shoot, had a trivia question, 2 kids running the court trying to put on a uniform and students rolling around on the floor. Why is there such a thing as a "fight song timeout". Let the opponent hear our fight song all night. I don't Splish Splash intimidates them.

#30 was Will Walker, a very talented Illinois high schooler from last season that got some recruiting attention from Bradley but went to DePaul.

Is there anyone who saw the game that thinks Jim Les should have worked harder to land Thijin Moses?

I know it is only one game, but Moses stood around with his hands begging for the ball as if his only role was to stand in one tiny spot on the floor motionless and be the three point threat.
He played no defense, he was totally lost when Bradley's 6'0" Will Franklin covered his 6'8" toothpick frame, and he was sucking air like a steam engine within about 90 seconds after entering the game.

I think BU did far better with Andrew Warren than we'd have ever done with Moses.
I will wait before making a final judgement, but right now, "overrated" comes right to mind.
