We've Got Issues.

it is true...if you don't see yourself in the group I described, it hardly means the comment is BS

I reiterate -- for those who want to jump to conclusions..
a significant number of (not all) those complaining about the actions at BU and unhappy with certain decisions, announcements, and happenings,
are indeed the very ones who wanted the changes made that lead directly to those actions.

I see on the PJ Star board where someone is saying the Civic Center and Deb Ritchel have stated that if BU moves a game they would be in breach of contract.....interesting.

I find this comment interesting given that BU has played some games at the Fieldhouse in the past while under contract with the PCC. Granted they were exhibition games...

SFP - Show me how having one game in the new on campus arena is going to create a better enviroment for the the future of Bradley Mens Basketball and better its legacy??? This is a me first situation. Every sports team knows that. Please the fans and you will improve the program. Yes the me first attitude has just about ruined this country, but in sports it is appropiate!

Maybe if you give it a chance the possibility of getting the students involved early on will be a great investment for the University. Me first statement kinda of made me chuckle. This could be played out both ways. Perhaps playing one game at the new arena will bring in the needed revenue to fund other programs and your me first attitude on this issue is bad for the school.

BTW...I understand yours and all the other guys who cannot understand why BU would shaft them for one game. It really is a difference of priorities. Not always does an institution and the whole customer base see eye to eye. That's just life. I just want BU to create a solid foundation for the long-term as long as it does not have huge cost to it.

As I've said before, I have slightly less problem playing a regular season game against a "lesser" opponent than I do moving all home postseason games to the new arena! I'm not sure how that does anything positive for the longterm fanbase.

Was there not a regular season game vs WIU at the fieldhouse? And was there this much complaining then?

SFP~ your great guy I hate to argue with you so maybe I will just have to agree to disagree on this one issue lol. With this issue I just want to see something semi-concrete to argue for the decision. SFP you say it will get the students much more involved because it is on campus. As a relatively recent graduate of BU (its been a few years now) there just wasn't a huge following of basketball among the general student population.

Those that loved it were at every game no matter what. The "fair weather" students showed up to the big games etc. Having an event on campus might get you an increase in the freshmen, but probably not any of the other classes, at least by a large margin. I just don't think the effect would be big enough to offset the season ticket holders that would be excluded.

T~ I think you are going off about an entirely different issue altogther. Again it is one isolated decision that some of the fan base is upset with, not some continuous agenda a group of fans has against the administration or something similar.

Didn't the Fieldhouse, albeit ancient, have a larger seating capacity than the new facilities? Playing the exhibition game at the new facilities does not bother me. I am not a fan of having a regular season game there and I dislike having a post season game at the new facilities! Maybe somebody has some information on this, but does anyone know how many tickets at these campus games are going to be allocated to the students? Hopefully we will be dancing this year and won't have to worry about the post season part of the schedule!

there has been only ONE regular season game at the Fieldhouse or away from the Civic Center since 1982..
it was a 1995 game against a non-DI opponent, Illinois Wesleyan (IWU)....possibly what you meant by WIU

In it's heyday the Fieldhouse could accomodate nearly 8000, but year by year adjustments for the sake of fire regulations, better comfort, etc...gradually reduced the seating capacity to more like 7000.
Then in the 1980's when BU utilized some of the Fieldhouse space for other purposes, training facilities, athletic dept. offices, etc...
then the seating was further reduced to a little over 5000, but it didn't really matter since nothing was being held there any more that would draw that much anyway.

Lastly...even though the final seating capacity was about 5000 (just a little over the new arena) only about 3000 of those people actually had seats that were worth anything, so the new arena will give more people, even better seats.

4,200 Seats (approximately)

- 500 Personal Seat Option ticketing plan ($500 or $1000)

- 600 Reserved for students

- 150 Participating teams' comp lists

= 2,950 Available to the general public

Total Capacity is about 5000 adding SRO, so make that bottom number about 3800
