Once again, this is Bradley, not ISU. We can speak in complete sentences.
"We have no idea really on any of these guys do we?"

JH is not the answer.
Just because he is a great recruiter at the U of I, means absolutely nothing at B.U.
Who ever we get had better be a great teacher, coach, and recruiter.
The two guys I like are Graves and Lusk.
How can you say that Graves and Lusk will be great teachers, coaches and recruiters?
No one knows. Hence the research firm to take the fallout if they guess wrong.
You can't win based on recruiting talants alone. JH has zero on-court experience. He is not ready! Why do you want him to fail? There is absolutely no chance that Bradley will hire JH...and, they shouldn't. Take another look after he has some experience. Please...........enough already..
Finally someone that has some knowledge, how do you fire someone because they believed he could not coach and then you want to hire someone that can recruit for Illinois but who knows about his coaching, makes no sense.

Because JL was an average recruiter, "average" teacher, but a poor motivator. How many times did we hear Jim himself say "they aren't buying in"?.... All the time, which means he could not motivate them to listen. If you get a better recruiter with perhaps equal teaching skills who can actually motivate the better players to listen and buy I'm, then I think there would be vast improvement
Here is a little story for u that don't want jh. a few years back there read an up and coming but very young assistant in the nfl. He was described as energetic, a great motivator, a guy who players would love to play for. But he was young, inexperienced and people didn't know about his x and o's. Miami interviewed him and said thanks but no thanks. Few days later the steelers hired him. Mike tomlin. Players today love these young motivating type of coaches. You can always get good assistants who know x's and o's.
Im guessing no one is going to be blaming the search firm...
I'm sure they wouldn't care either way as long as the check clears.......
Looking past the lack of head coaching experience, the thing that concerns me most about JH is that this job would simply be a stepping stone for him. If he has any success here, he will bolt for the first High Major that offers him the Head Coaching job.
I would much rather see Bradley go after candidates who not only want to rebuild the program, but also want to remain at the helm for an extensive (and successful) period of time. This is tough to guage when looking at potential candidates. However, you can at least look at the candidate's age and history to help speculate on what this individual's personal longterm goals are.
I want the exact opposite. Im tired of firing coaches. Lets have one succeed and leave. This job would likely then be even more appealing.

Long term, short term, who cares? I want a winner. Larry Brown would be my first pick out of anyone and he would be a short timer because that is what he does.
Don Sutton spent a bit of time with USF and since then the schools program is looking up.
