We really didn't deserve to win.....

i knew you'd look. :) relax.

I have heard this comment several times...in fact i thought the same thing....briefly.

After careful consideration...we certainly did "deserve to win". I understand the premise in this thought/statement but look at what we did.

We took their best shot time and time again, much like a heavyweight bout, and kept getting up to not only answer the bell but get a few shots in of our own.

How many clutch shots (punches) did we throw when we had to have em....sammy several times.....dodie multiple times.......tw......singh......leads that were 3-4-5- kept at that differential when not responding coulda pushed it to 7-8-9 late.

Then...after handling their best...we snuck in a few jabs....a flurry of quick hits and then.............................the big round house for the knockout.

Tko baby.....

I say we deserved this win.....without a doubt.

goose pimples !!!

I'm ok with saying it. We didn't deserve to win. If a team shot a 70-somethin' footer on us and made it to win the game...I know I'd be on here saying we deserved to win. One of two things needed to happen in order for this to be a "deserved" win. 1) OU had to miss their last shot immediately followed by the 70 footer or 2) there had to be enough time on the clock (maybe 2 seconds more) to where it was a legitimate 3pt shot as opposed to a 70 foot prayer. If either of those had happened it would've been a deserved win. Now I agree they never put us away and we never let them put us away so that's credit due, but a 70 foot prayer to win the game by one point is just dumb luck...not legitimately beating the other team, but hey I'm not complaining :)

Don't hiss and moan at me and say I'm not a fan...I'm as glad as anyone we won that game, but OU outplayed us and "deserved" to win that game, but the chips didn't fall in their favor and that's why there's gambling and college basketball

We really didnt deserve to win...

Ill take it, Im not complaining, but, just to play devils advocate for a moment....

First of all, I dont think he travelled. After watching the replay a bunch of times it looks like he caught the ball as his foot landed, took a full stride and his second foot landed, then sort of leaped and released the ball just before what WOULD have been his third step landed. So I think it wasnt quite travelling.

However, I dont know if it is really possible for all that to have happened in 0.9 sec if the clock really started on time. Can you catch and shoot in 0.9 sec? Yes. Can you catch and run a couple steps while winding up for a heave and then shoot in 0.9 sec? I really doubt it. Like I said, Ill take, dont flame me to death, but if Oakland would have done the same thing to us we would probably have figured out 10 diferent ways that the shot shouldnt have counted.

Sometimes it truly is better to be lucky than good.

I agree... I really don't see how he could have traveled.. I see a parallel with that Devin Harris shot earlier this year... The opposing team's fan base just wanted a way to negate the miracle.

As I said before, I don't think either team deserved to lose that game! However, I don't think they outplayed us by much at all and we deserved to win just as much as they did. The game was tied with 3 seconds left!

....and we were losing by two with 0.9 second left.......
....we were losing by 5 with 2 minutes left.....
....did we ever have the lead for more than a minute in that game until the final....

a spade is a spade...a 70 foot prayer is a 70 foot prayer

again I'm not complaining one bit haha

Apparently they didn't think there was ANY chance of us making a last-second shot as they obviously chose not to defend it! So, in that respect, I guess their defense (or lack of) lost the game for them. Or maybe it was the phantom travel, or the clock not starting the split second he touched the ball, or possibly something else that happened earlier in the game. I don't know, but their fans and coach obviously feel we shouldn't have won the game.

IMO, just because you don't have the lead, but remain in the game until the very end doesn't mean the team doesn't deserve to win.
