VCU coach Anthony Grant has played against Jim Les before

They have never coaches against each other, but they did play against each other 1 time in the past. Grant was a junior at Dayton when Jim Les was a senior at Bradley in 1986. Bradley beat Dayton at Dayton in overtime 79-77. Many Bradley fans will remember that game as one of several Bradley won that year with last second shots. With about a second left, with Dayton leading by 3, Jim Les threw a pass into the front court that Hawkins grabbed, turned and shot from 35 feet. It went in the basket and sent the game to overtime. Bradley won the game in overtime.
Jim Les had 24 points and 10 assists and played all 45 minutes. Grant had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the game.

Coach, I was at the Drake game in Des Moines the Saturday before the Dayton game when Jimmy threw the lenght of the court pass to Hersey and he caught it in mid air and put it in. 2 games in a row they teamed up and made national sports reports.
