Utah Formally Invited to Pac-10

I could be wrong, but weren't we supposed to play Utah in the challenge?

We are and that will not change. Utah probably will not join the Pac 10 officially until the following year. I also expect to see BYU move to a different conference.

no, they would have added boise st. regardless of whether utah left or not.

I'd say that's pretty hard to confirm. If I suspected Utah was jumping to the Pac-10, I don't think it's hard to imagine the MWC conference commissioner and owners were...

then consider this -- the MWC extended the offer for Boise State to join long before all this other conference jumping took place, and long before Utah even got an invite to the Pac-10

It's not technically a Pac-10 opponent :)

As for MWC, they added Boise St to make a power play at an automatic bid in the BCS. With or without Utah, they were adding Boise St.

I'm not so sure the MWC adds other teams. Are there any other teams that instantly bring football success? Remember, there are BCS formulas that must be met by the MWC in order to be eligible to be an automatic qualifying conference - adding a weak football team actually hurts them severly in the formulas. Boise St obviously helps.

The politicals here in Texas are starting to try and put pressure on the Big 12 to expand and allow University of Houston and TCU into the conference. Jerry Jones is said to be pressuring Arkansas to consider a move to the Big 12. Obviously Jerry Jones has a huge financial investment ie the Big 12 football championship game and with 10 teams no game. Add Arkansas and they must add at 12th and the return of the game.

The Big 12 I think will eventually cave and add those 2 teams but at a very substancial either entry fee or very below Big 12 market value in payouts.

I think TCU stays in the MWC and Arkansas and U of H are added, but Texas does not want U of H so someone is going to have to twist UT's arm.

I dont think this is over by a long shot with the Big 12.
