Transfer portal

I would be bummed it either enters the portal, but as long as BOTH Hannah and Leons don't go, I'll be ok.
Connor Linke starting doesn't sound too promising to me.

Any way to find out the % of 2nd transfer no penalty waivers being approved by NCAA?

Too early to tell?

I would be more accepting of transfer portal if 2nd transfer waivers were very, very rare.

If they're granted easily, it's example #27,649 of NCAA's corruption, hypocrisy & typical *used cattle feed*

The NCAA has said they will issue such waivers only with certain circumstances like a coaching change, abusive situations, family issues requiring a player to be closer to home, and a few others. There are no stats kept, and there weren't a lot of the multiple transfer situations last year. But I seem to recall that a good percentage were denied. This year, because of NIL, there are bound to be many more (there are already a lot of them in the portal). Let's see how many the NCAA allows.

Illinois State junior forward Alston Andrews enters the portal-
https://verbalcommits.com/players/alston-andrews

Alston Andrews is a 6'9" junior forward from Georgia, recruited by Dan Muller. He never played much under Muller, but played even less this past year under new head coach Ryan Pedon. He appeared in only 7 games this season, and averaged less than 2 minutes per game, and was scoreless on the season.

Also, Bryceson Burns, a redshirt sophomore guard at Drake is in the portal. He redshirted his second season (2021-22). and has played very little in the two seasons he was on the roster.

I'm hearing that Malevy Leons will make his decision tomorrow (Wed. 3/22). Step it up HOTB!

Man, It's really a shame Mast and Leons couldn't finish out their careers together here. I'd think they could cash in on the "Flying Dutchmen" moniker...but IDK what rules are in place for the foreign players with regards to NIL.

Also, both could have and still could go down as Bradley Legends instead of just a memory of guys who transferred. IDK...just seems like ur throwing a lot away to have to start over for 1 year, especially if our NIL is even in the ballpark of what other guys are offering.

Also, just another setback as our Fanbase finally seemed to really be getting back and really embracing this team. Hopefully the defections won't hit the reset button on the attendance.

Portal vs. no portal

Thanks DC - didn't think he was still considering staying - at least there's a chance!
Can't think of a better HC than Wardle to help him reach the next level. He is HARD on Malevy because he knows his potential.
He would be a central point of the Braves next season to help them repeat as Champs, and I don't see any other team matching us if all but Mast leaves.

I would think he'd want to be part of something special again next season. Hopefully he considers also how he could impact the team and that loyalty matters.
Whatever happens, I'm very happy that he chose BU the past 2 seasons!

Can you imagine what we'd do to the Valley if everyone stayed this year. We could have won 30 games!

One positive note about all this transferring Coach should have a good list of potential replacements to pick from both D1 and D2

Yep. That’s what I’m talking about. Throwing that away to possibly start over. Could have been legendary.

We've seen the unexpected with mid majors making the final four in recent years. It's not crazy to think the potential could be there with everyone back.

I see none of the Northern Iowa players (as yet) have entered the portal.

I'm taking an optimistic approach. If indeed Mast leaves, as he almost certainly will, and Leons leaves, we could get two better players to replace them, After all, Hersey Hawkins was barely recruited out of Westinghouse, and that worked out fairly well for us.

An interesting name appeared in the transfer portal just now.
Bryant Selebangue- https://verbalcommits.com/players/bryant-selebangue

He was a 6'8" juco power forward from Florida Southwestern Community College who Bradley recruited strongly one year ago. That is the same junior college Terry Roberts attended. But in the end, he chose Tulsa over Bradley.
https://tulsahurricane.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/bryant-selebangue/10826

He had pretty good numbers at Tulsa, starting every game and averaging 12.0 ppg and 9.2 rpg. He only shot 50.8% from the FT line.
Stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5106643/bryant-selebangue

But Tulsa was one of the worst teams in Division I. They went 5-25 overall and 1-17 and a distant last place in the AAC. Their RPI was 331, and NET was 324.-
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/standings/_/group/62

Selebangue is now available in the transfer portal. He has 2 years of eligibility left.

I'd love to get Selebangue....was disappointed when he didn't come here after JUCO....he's an athletic Big.

Question about the Transfer Portal for Da Coach of anyone else...Is there a date limit for which they have to make a commitment to the portal by?. If they commit to the portal then find out later that they will not get as much as what they thought can they come back to the school they are leaving?
