This situation in Miami is becoming a bit clearer. Miami just coaxed one of the top transfers in the portal, Nijel Pack, to commit to the Hurricanes, because a billionaire Miami booster, who is also an alum of Miami, put up an NIL deal for Pack that included $800,000 cash and a car. But it turns out, the top retuning scorer for Miami, Isaiah Wong, who had just lead Miami to their first Elite 8 in program history, had just signed an NIL deal with the same booster. However, his deal was for a fraction of what was promised Pack. Wong obviously felt insulted and short-changed, and threatened to enter the portal if his deal wasn't increased. And his tantrum seems to have worked. Now the booster has guaranteed Wong will get more NIL money, and in turn, Wong now agrees not to enter the portal and return to Miami.

Here is a series of tweets by Mark Adams, a college basketball TV analyst, who has talked to several coaches about this NIL "blackmail" scheme by low-level "agents" who represent players-

Part 1: Coaches have shared that larger agent firms with many NBA/NFL clients are typically reputable and good to work with. But, those firms are not very active with a large majority of college players. Lower level agents with maybe 1-2 or no NBA clients have filled that vacuum.
Part 2: The "lower level" agents need players to transfer to make money. So these agents work to convince players to transfer so they can profit off a new deal. That is why we see things like we saw this week at Miami. It is happening at other schools as well as we speak.
Part 3: These agents tell players they can get them more money. The agent then approaches the head coach at the player's current school and tells the coach to get their client more money or they will transfer. This dynamic been happening to at least three different D1 coaches
Part 4: These low level agents can only make money if the player leaves OR they negotiate a better deal on their behalf at their current school. These agents are motivated to get players to move or consider moving. Typically they go to parents first to influence their son.
Part 5: One D1 coach told me the agent was basically "black mailing" the head coach. The agent threatened that his client would leave unless a new NIL deal was agreed to by Friday. That is not an isolated case as at least two other coaches in P5 experienced same dynamic.
Part 6: Some D1 coaches are considering recruiting more euro players because euro agents are honest and more trustworthy than these low level agents filling this NIL void here.
Part 7: Next thing will be collectives paying influencers other than the player. If a player has people around him who influence him, what is to keep these collectives from paying those people to guide a player to their school? AAU coach, girl friend, parents, friends...

SIU guard Sreven Verplancken to transfer. He only averaged about 7 ppg, but he would have been their 3rd highest returning scorer behind Marcus Domask and Lance Jones, and he would have been their top returning 3-point shooter (40.5%).
Some of these transfers are puzzling. Verplancken was a transfer from a Division II school who was given a chance by SIU coach Bryan Mullins. He became a starter and started 25 of SIU's 31 games, and played 28 minutes per game. And with Ben Coupet, Jr. exhausting his eligibility, Verplancken has a chance to play an even bigger role on the team, and get his degree. He has 2 more seasons of eligibility. I'm not sure what more he wants. Buy transferring a 2nd time, he is not eligible for immediate eligibility if he goes to another D1 school, so he'll have to sit out and lose a year of eligibility.
Maybe he wants to be the #1 scoring option, but he'll probably have to go back to D2 to get that opportunity.

I can't find Mosley in any nba mock draft.
 
That is probably what he is learning from NBA people that he's getting advice from. Nearly all the most reliable NBA Draft projections do not have Mosley being picked in the 2022 draft.
But, if you look hard, it's possible to find an NBA Draft site that projects Mosley as a 2nd round pick in either 2022 or 2023. Here is one-

However, note that they rate Mosley as only the 17th best shooting guard in the 2023 draft class.

Maybe this will push the mid-majors over the edge and get them to collectively leave the NCAA and form their own league. Probably not, but a guy can dream.

Something needs to be done. There are more mid-major schools than Power schools. Majority should win but they need to stand up and start asserting themselves

Unfortunately, the NCAA is not a democracy. As we all know, it is driven mostly by money, and the Power schools have a lot more of it.
 
Another Illinois State player enters the portal- 5'11" junior point guard Mark Freeman. He played in 31 games and started 14, He was their 5th highest scorer, averaging 8.8 ppg, and he lead the team in assists and turnovers, averaging 3.5 apg and 3.2 to per game. He shot 38.6% from three. He played his first 2 years at Tennessee State, then transferred and played last season at ISU.
As a sophomore at Tennessee State in 2020-21, he averaged 17.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, and 4.6 apg.
Now he is transferring again after the coaching change at ISU.
