Transfer portal players

Missouri State's Isaac Haney becomes their 8th player to transfer- He is a freshman guard who was hyped as a sharpshooter.
He played in 32 games, averaged 3.6 ppg and shot 33.3%. He would have 3 more years of eligibility.

So they have had 8 players transfer, one player de-commit, and 2 exhaust eligibility. They signed 11 new players, so this now puts Missouri State even on scholarships for 2022-23.

With all of these transfers it is going to be interesting to see if the NCAA stands by their rule that you only get to transfer once without sitting out….or will they give a bunch of waivers.

Yes! Rather do that than just give up and say oh I am not good enough to stay up with them. Makes it more fun and satisfactory when you beat their a*s. They have always had deeper pockets. They just hid it.
 
Speaking of the NCAA. Great article in the Journal Star today written by Dan Wolken about the NCAA. Talks about the mess they are in and how they need someone to clean it up

SIU guard Sreven Verplancken to transfer. He only averaged about 7 ppg, but he would have been their 3rd highest returning scorer behind Marcus Domask and Lance Jones, and he would have been their top returning 3-point shooter (40.5%).
Some of these transfers are puzzling. Verplancken was a transfer from a Division II school who was given a chance by SIU coach Bryan Mullins. He became a starter and started 25 of SIU's 31 games, and played 28 minutes per game. And with Ben Coupet, Jr. exhausting his eligibility, Verplancken has a chance to play an even bigger role on the team, and get his degree. He has 2 more seasons of eligibility. I'm not sure what more he wants. Buy transferring a 2nd time, he is not eligible for immediate eligibility if he goes to another D1 school, so he'll have to sit out and lose a year of eligibility.
Maybe he wants to be the #1 scoring option, but he'll probably have to go back to D2 to get that opportunity.
 
As suspected, Isiaih Mosley has entered the transfer portal

Mosley is the 9th Missouri State player to transfer, plus they lost Gaige Prim and Jaylen Minnett, who used up their eligibility.
Now Missouri State has lost 9 of their top 10 scorers from last season. 5th highest scorer, Donovan Clay (8.4 ppg) is the only one who hasn't transferred (yet).
Mosley will be highly coveted by a lot of teams.

But, Dana Ford has already used his scholarship to land another guard, Kendle Moore.

Kendle Moore is a 5'10" guard who was a Bradley recruit at one time out of Danville (IL) High School. Bradley never offered, but several other MVC programs did. He eventually committed to Drake. But when Drake head coach Nico Medved was hired away by Colorado State, he de-committed from Drake and went to Colorado State instead.

His 6.5 ppg doesn't quite replace the production of Mosley, and he has 1 season of eligibility left at Missouri State.

He's 7-5 (tallest D-1 player), averaged 8.2 ppg, 7.6 rpg, shot 72.6% from the floor & led the nation with 4.6 blocks per game.
