Tony Bennet/Will Franklin...Darrian Norris/ Eddren McCain

Compare and contrast if you will. (For the record this is NOT done to determine if one pair is better then the other.)

The biggest thing I like is EM and DN have 4 years to get their game-on @ BU as TB and WF only had 2 seasons! :D

Good point MM.....I also wonder if EM has any buddies who can shoot the rock and would like to come to the hilltop! DN already had an asst before he played in his first game....Milos Knezevic! :D

best case scenario barring the unforseen

Eddren = a good, young, undistracted and uninjured DRuff
Darian = Will Franklin with a four year upside
Taylor Brown = a raw Theron Wilson
John Wilkins = Mitchell Anderson with a bit better handles

I said it before and I'll say it again. McCain and Norris have a chance to be mentioned with the best backcourts in America before they graduate. I consider myself a good judge of talent and you can book this one Danno :)

Braves4Life I love your upbeat posts! You are defintely a glass 1/2 full type of guy and a person that I would not mind sitting next to on a long road trip.

I feel a better comparison would be EM to DRuff, and DN to WF. I feel like that tandem played together more and game styles are more similar. I do think of the pair DN has the potential to be the better player, I think EM is TOO much like DRuff and gets himself in situations where he doesn't know what to do with the ball and needs to force something. I think DN could be one of the guys that if we have a shot for the lead in the last possesion, I want taking the shot. I couldn't ever say that about DRuff and don't think I'll be saying it about EM... Though I hope I'm wrong!

I could say that about Ruff Andy, just not last season, because it was JC, and the year before was Franklin. I do agree with your comparison though. I think EM will be better than Ruffin though. Just what I have seen from the freshman so far.

I asked for the comparison with these 2 BU players based moreso on what appeared to be a toughness that EM had that Squirrel pointed out was like Cello.

I thought Cello was tough but TB and Will seemed more appropriate as they played together even though it was just a year.

I loved what TB and WF brought to the court. They were just plain tough and they had the mind set that they would fight you to the end, do what ever it took to beat you and were not going to be pushed around by anyone. I did not see these two play their first two years of college ball so I do not know if they were as good as EM and DN are in their first year. But if EM and DN develop this same mental approach to their game there will be no stopping what they can achieve with their basketball careers at BU. It will be a fun ride to watch:biggrin:

I like your comparisons of these 4 players as I thought that Will and Tony were good basketball players but achieved a lot more because of their toughness; I believe our 2 freshman guards have a chance to be very special players as they seem to be both skilled and tough .

+ Anthony=Patrick that will not turn pro in two years

Neither Bennett nor Franklin were true point guards. McCain is a true point guard. A more appropriate comparison would be McCain and Ruffin. I think EM is a head of where DR was at this point his first year (and keep in mind that was really DR's second year removed from HS). I think he turns the ball over a little more than DR did (I would have to look at the numbers to compare), but I also think he's way more under control. EM doesn't have a POB to bail him out when he gets hung on the baseline like DR did, which is one reason I think his TO's might be slightly higher.

As far as Norris goes, I see his ceiling being about where Will and Tony's were, probably closer to Will's.

I have said this before, and maybe I am the only one, but Eddren reminds me more of Billy Wright than he does of Daniel Ruffin.
Billy was deceptively quick, a great passer, and a very good shooter until the eye problem affected him in his senior year. Billy had a more solid body like Eddren does.

I think I agree with you. Billy was definitely pass-first like EM, and it seemed like we all were wanting him to shoot more early on in his career, much like we are with EM.

I can see this comparison. However, I think Eddren is much, much faster than Billy was. North to South anyway.

EM doesn't APPEAR that quick to me but everytime you look up he is beating his man to the rack...its what happens afterwords that he needs to and WILL clean up.

Yeah...I feel like EM can beat just about anyone with his quickness. He does a little move and uses his speed to get around almost anyone and I wish that he would be able to cap that all off with a nice jumper that he can sink consistently. That would be great for when we are stuck on a number because I honestly feel like EM can get into at least the top of the paint AT WILL. It'd be a lethal tool.
