I am pretty sure it is a lease but what did fans think was going to happen when the teams are allowed to pay the players. They have ruined college sports.
 
Don't know about this deal but a lot of them are by the month or maybe 3 or 6 month deals. The player resigns each time the contract is up.
BU needs a local car dealer that supports them like they use to have.
Velde Buick GMC use to be a big sponsor and before them there was a Cadillac dealer in Peoria. Who does it now?

Ha, LOL, many here are way too young to remember...
that we did have a local car dealer who secretly loaned cars to players' families, then NCAA used that fact to hammer Bradley with sanctions, even tho all their evidence came from disgruntled former players and a vendetta to nail DV.
Meanwhile the same NCAA let other programs slide even tho they were proven to be shipping cash to recruits -

I find it humorous that anyone would be surprised by this. I mean we had coke and hookers at Louisville in 2013, far before anyone was thinking about NIL or schools paying players directly in the open. Now it has to be off the charts crazy.
 
Here is another facet of the NIL system we will surely see more of. The University of Tennessee's annual Orange and White Spring Football Game is today, and their starting quarterback, Nico Iamaleava has skipped practices this week, and notified the coach last night that he will "hold out" and not play again until they give in to his NIL demands. The two sides have apparently been attempting to renegotiate his NIL contract, but the negotiations broke down, and somehow the story got leaked to the press. :roll:

But now he sees other SEC quarterbacks getting bigger NIL deals for twice that amount. So he is holding out and won't play again until he gets a better deal, reportedly in the range of $4 million per year.

Unbelievable greed. The smaller schools don’t even have a chance and if the NCAA doesn’t police it where will it end.

Not unbelievable greed. Just business. College football is one of the biggest sports in America. Why wouldn't the players start acting like pro players do and negotiate their pay? This is entirely predictable.
 
Noticeable this year in games called by Dick Vitale. The words ‘great student athlete’ were not used. Over the years it was a favorite expression!

Great question. Is this even on the table anymore? I still think the NCAA is scared of the Power5 conferences so the NCAA will not do anything that hurts the conferences.
I still say that the B10 and SEC and, possibly, the B12 are controlling everything the NCAA is doing.
​​​Lets face it the NCAA needs those conferences money more then those conferences need the NCAA.
The mid-majors are now the minor leagues of college sports.
