The Bradley Squirrel Makes the Final Cut

I was for a "fighting" or "flying" squirrel for a long time. I'm not sure at this time.

In support of the Squirrel I think it helps to forget the squirrel as it seems many are picturing. Remember this would be a characture....not some cute, fuzzy little creature we all see scampering around our backyards/campuses.

A good artist/graphic designer could create an image of a fighting/flying squirrel that would be a mkt boom and somewhat menacing (without scaring the kids  )

On the flip side amny of us grew up calling the neighborhood geek a squirrel. (sorry Squirrel) The word conjures up more negatives then positives...."that guy is squirrely"

Bradley University Home of the Braves and BRAVEheart the Fighting Squirrel.

I'm leaning towards NO mascot.....as long as we are the Braves the link to something Indian related doesn't allow for anything other than that (Indian related) to connect.

JMHO...

My Gosh,
Doesn't my alma mater have better things to do than this stupid stupid email survey?

I really don't care...as long as we're still the "Braves" whether we have a mascot or not really doesn't matter to me.

The Squirrel thing might be fun...maybe you could have my favorite halftime show of all time "Frisbee Dog" chase it around the arena.

Are we talking a real squirrel like the UGA Bulldog or an idiot Freshman in a squirrel suit? This makes a huge difference.

I'd much prefer a real squirrel that would be allowed to run free in Carver and chase the germ infested children away from the court during pre-game.

I wish they would listen to my wonderful ideas but then again I'm a bit drunk right now so maybe not...

Cheers,
VromanFan

I was going to support no mascot at all, but I like Vroman fan's idea. Let's just let a live squirrel run around at the games. That would be awesome.

Since it's the Holidays, ala Christmas Vacation. :D

Thanks for the support. I really can't see what could go wrong.

We'd could call him "Nutty" or something stupid like that and tie a tiny BU hat to his head.

Perhaps we should set up a pool at midcourt and have him waterski during halftime?

As long as "Frisbee Dog" isn't performing at the same halftime. That could get ugly.

Hahaha - Have you looked in the mirror lately?

Just kidding Squirrel.

I really like the idea a person brought up at another board (the pjstar.com board).

My avatar displays the preliminary vision. And in the authors own words:

" I just want to clarify a couple of things. Any group of two or more lions is a "pride". Using two mascots (a pride) presents a number of opportunities for unique interaction between the mascots.
One is more aggressive. One is more kid friendly.
One leads the students. One leads the older crowd.
One is more animated. One is more vocal.
One goes to the upper bowl. One stays on the floor.
There are endless possibilities for one mascot to play off the action of the other.
I know this can be marketed. I was a walk on in two sports at Bradley and it is a source of pride to this day. I have a degree in design from Bradley and that is a source of pride. I would be willing to be involved in any way with a mascot design that presents the University in a positive manner. The word pride works with Bradley Braves. I am proud of the Braves."

I like it, its the best idea put forward so far, but might it not be a lil too Peoria Central High School?

Well, if it is too related to Peoria - maybe KW will like it and endorse it.

Can anyone answer this question? Why does a team with a nickname of "Braves" need anything but a brave as a mascot.
