But one of the first pieces of the 2026-27 Coaching Carousel was just revelaed.
Former Missouri State Head Coach and current Head Coach of Nevada, Steve Alford has announced that
this season, 2026-27 will be his last. He will retire at the end of this upcoming season.
He's 61 y/o & his career DI record is 646-357 (.644). His record in the MVC at Missouri State (then Southwest Missouri State) is 78-48.
One other former MVC head coach, Greg McDermott, just retired at Creighton and another, Dana Altman is rumored to be
considering retirement at Oregon after the 2026-27 season.
And, one other former MVC coach is a new hire as a head coach in 2026-27...
- Mark Turgeon is hired at UMKC
and brother of former Bradley Head Coach Geno Ford, Dustin Ford is taking over as Head Coach at Akron, succeeding John Groce.
Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell is stepping down to concentrate on treatment for illness, but may return.
