The 2013-14 coaching carousel starts

NBCSports reports that College of Charleston is down to 2 finalists:
Current Wofford head coach Mike Young, and former C of C player Anthony Johnson.

Interestingly, Former C of C star player Anthony Johnson, who played 13 seasons in the NBC, has no coaching experience.

Both of the two finalists for the College of Charleston job (Anthony Johnson and Mike Young) have withdrawn their names from consideration. That leaves C of C with no candidates left to choose from. I guess they'll have to start over again .

SIU's Athletic Director (Mario Moccia) is reportedly one of THREE finalists for the job of
Athletic Director at Georgia State University.....

Moccia did NOT get that job at Georgia State, Charlie Cobb - the former AD at Appalachian State did....
... but Moccia must wanna get out of Carbondale - now he's pursuing the Athletic Director job at New Mexico State University
and is one of 11 finalists

Indiana State's AD Ron Prettyman also applied but is not one of the 11 remaining candidates

Speaking of New Mexico State - they are getting sue over their MASCOT...
Oklahoma State thinks the NMSU mascot is too darned similar to theirs!!!

According to your link above, Prettyman is one of the 11 finalists .

Loyola has been searching for a new AD for 10 months..they are down to TWO finalists...
..with the decision expected this weekend...

-Rick Hartzell - former AD at UNI and Bucknell before that, and current NCAA referee who does a lot of BU games

-Steve Watson - current St. Bonaventure AD

Also - New Mexico State has two front-runners in their search for a new AD..
and SIU's Mario Moccia is still in along with Nevada Asst AD Rory Hickok
Moccia is a NMSU alum!

NMSU has narrowed the field to 9 candidates...Moccia & Prettyman are both still in

originally the New Mexico State AD job had 48 candidates...
they have now whittled the field down to just four candidates and will call those four back for more interviews....

- Southern Illinois AD Mario Moccia
- current Indiana State AD Ron Prettyman
- current University of Nevada deputy AD Rory Hickok
- former UNLV deputy AD Gerard Koloski

SIU will lose their AD...
Mario Moccia will be named the new Athletic Director of New Mexico State University...

Obviously Moccia must have impressed - as he beat out dozens and dozens of really good candidates for this job...but you'd never know it if you go back just a couple years and read all the hateful things the SIU fans had to say about Moccia...

They blamed him largely for their severe basketball demised - especially piling onto Moccia for giving Chris Lowery such a huge and long term contract before he'd ever won with any of his own players - then locking the Saluki fans into four miserable years under Lowery from 2008-2012 (5th, 9th, 8th, & 9th in MVC)

not basketball but football related..

an interesting story about fired Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini..
seems he doesn't think much of the folks who fired him and he says so...definitely doesn't take the high road...

speaking of coaches saying the wrong thing...
the Northern Michigan women's basketball coach is suspended for publicly saying one of their rivals cheated

SIU hiring a new AD - good goals....
"..should be experienced, more extrovert than introvert"

"You have a lot of people that enjoy the high-end areas, the clubs and things
like that, and I think they want to see the athletic director and have a
relationship with him and the staff. We may not be built any longer to have
an introvert as an AD. I think you'll have to have somebody who's
comfortable with people."

"I just hope it's somebody that cares about SIU...."
