Texas Rejects Pac-10 Offer

It's funny that the title is Texas rejects the offer from Pac 10 like they are a hero. Texas only did this cause they are looking out for Texas and want to continue to be able to bully around the rest of their current conference and not give up the right to form their own TV Network for only themselves and keep all the money from it. If Texas joined the Pac 10, they realized that they wouldn't be able to bully around the rest of the conference into unfair revenue sharing.

Argh. Part of me likes Texas because not going preserves college athletics as is, even if only temporarily. The other part of me realizes they're a big fat jerk in this entire thing. They only care about being top dog. They are going to massively screw over the rest of the Big 12 with this new deal.

Alot of this has to do with TX A&M and the politicals in this state. Rick Perry is TX governor and he is a TX A&M alum. It is said he put pressure on the Regents at AM to work with Texas to keep the big 12 together, IE helping out Baylor. This is an election year and he does not want to peeve off the Texas money.. Baylor.

The AM people here are real peeved that they are staying in the shawdows of Texas and not going into the SEC.

This deal keeps the peace in the state with the major money contributors to politics at bay for atleast a year. Lets Texas clean up with money from a possible Big 12 network, a UT TV network and eliminates a Big 12 championship game. They did not want or like the championship game.

But this whole going back to staying in the Big 12 is political. As we have said before whatever Texas did everyone else will fall inline.

I think this is just a bandage and eventually this whole thing will be revisited. I would love to know exactly what both OU and OSU think of this whole thing.

The two biggest losers in this are the Pac 10 and Notre Dame. But all Notre Dame has to do is pick up the phone and say we are wanting in with the Big Ten, bring along anyone and wow the Big Ten would rule everything.

Oh Missouri, how does it feel that no one wants you. You might be part of the Big 12 but even they are only keeping you because they need 10 teams. All that flirting and not one buyer.

Well.....yeah.......why would they care about any other school?

It's funny they don't like the championship game now as when the league originally formed, there was a vote on whether or not to have it. The vote ended up 11-1 in favor holding a championship game, with Nebraska being the lone no vote.

Remember at that time a championship game was more revenue. It is still revenue but Texas and its football team has grown by leaps and bounds in those 15 or so years. Now Texas is playing for championships and a championship game is an obstical that is not needed. That revenue for UT pales in comparison to what the program now generates.

Nebraska 15 years ago was the one competing for national championships.
