Obviously Texas is a great offensive team, but......
Illinois is going to have to find some way to stop opponents...
..allowing 90 points, 70 shots, and 21 offensive rebound to anyone is a BAD game defensively...
With Illinois playing Lewis, then Southern Indiana, followed by UCI, Toledo, and SIU -- simply did NOT prepare the Illini for a BCS-caliber offense like Texas...
Texas had scored over 80 in all their other games...and Illinois just couldn't box them out and shut them down.
I want to be careful in saying this -- but despite what has been spun -- two of the Illini starters are NOT playing very good defense...and how does a guy who's 6-9, plays half the game, and is supposed to be a good defensive player -- end up with ZERO rebounds in a game that has 83 missed shots and another 29 missed free throws??
Last question I have ....
Where are those people who said Joseph Bertrand was a major stud, would be starting or sharing time at PG, or would be a major contributor??
I like the kid and think he still might be a good college player down the road...
But -- I have said since I saw him play in high school that Bertrand was several years "away" and would be better off going mid-major.
He could still develop as he is only in his 2nd year there, but obviously Bruce Weber feels he would add nothing currently -- as Bertrand isn't even logging PT at all after getting only a couple minutes against the cupcakes..
