SIU 53 - BU 51 -- Congratulations to the Salukis

I am extremely proud of the great performance by the Bradley team today against a team ranked #11 in the country. I doubt anyone could have predicted this Bradley team would be this competetive, and they were 1 shot away from making the final.

Let's hope the Salukis can do some damage in the NCAA.

Bradley still has a slim chance of an at-large bid.
Their RPI rose to 36--

Great regular season ; outplayed Siu most of the game and everyone should be proud of the effort you gave ; good luck in the post-season wherever we may go.

I was happy with the way we played, too. We got beaten in two areas we've been beaten in all year- free throws and rebounding. We should have won this game, and a win probably would have propelled us into the NCAA, and that hurts. Now we have to sit and wait a week, and hope to god that something good happens for us.

A big thnk you to this team and the coaches!

Thanks for bringing the excitement and winning back to Bradley. This team was a delight to watch and follow. I know they are disappointed with the outcome today, but they have nothing to be ashamed of. Let the negative-nellies find fault and rip away, but the real fans will support the guys.
We'll have to wait to see where we play next, but the Bradley Nation will be there supporting you!

The Braves are now up to # 35....MS is #34.....if the end up losing...will the Braves pass them? :?

Gotta give props to the fans at the game today too. In years past, Bradley's contingent would have been drowned out by the likes of SIU or MSU fans in a game like this. Maybe it was because we were playing for our NCAA lives and the Salukis weren't in the same position, but Bradley's fans were top-notch in their enthusiasm. I hope Braves fans can be as successful in future tourneys, just like the teams BU will put on the floor.

Great year and I am very pround of how hard the team played all year. They are fun to watch and I hope we can win a few more games.

Very Proud of this Team. They may have missed some shots, but we came to play. Not just today, but all year long. Let's lace em up and go get em in whichever post season tourney we're in. Nice job BU.

I just got finished watching the game via tape delay. I echo your sentiments coach. What a phenomenal effort by Bradley in this game! But there is a reason SIU is the #11 team in the country, and they showed why today.

I will definately be rooting for SIU in the Valley finals, as a tournament championship probably gives them no worse than a 4 seed, if not a 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. And that high of a seed will give SIU a great chance at a Sweet Sixteen finish or beyond, which would be great for the Valley!

Of course, I do remember a very recent number 4 seed that got their heads handed to them by Bradley last year! :D So a high seed is certainly no guarantee of a Sweet Sixteen appearance, but it certainly helps!

Maybe we should have won, maybe not. We missed a few free throws, but SIU missed some really open shots that could have made the score a little more one sided.

Well, I'm sure we will be the subject of plenty of bubble talk this week! We'll see what the ESPN crew has to say about the Valley later tonight.

OK...........some how i lost count on the BU 3's for the year  .....with 7 today and I think they said during the game the Braves were at 328 so the new Valley record sits at 335? :?

I think they'll probably say the Braves are toast and BCS bubble teams can exhale! Actually, I think Doug Gottlieb and Dave Revsine might give BU some love. They did our game in December against Iowa State and if they remember what they talked about during that game, I think they appreciate the way this edition of the Bradley Braves played hoops this season, given what they lost off last year's team. In the end, the numbers don't look good for the Braves when compared to other top 50 teams in terms of wins and losses. Then again, the nation got broadsided when Utah State and Air Force popped up on the big board while Hofstra and Missouri State sat in disbelief on Selection Sunday in 2006.

Great game, our kids played hard and they were coached well.
Just the missed FT's is all that I regret.

I thought the refs as usual let SIU get away with lots of fouling, and it wore our guys down, and that probably had something to do with the missed FTs.

Great crowd and great Bradley fans.

I had a lot of opportunity to talk with the families of several of the Bradley players, and I talked with Ray Brown and found something pretty interesting about his situation.
PM me and I will go into more detail.

Great year but...

Great year but...

I echo everyones comments on how hard this team played all year. They did more than I could have imagined. However... i just felt that this game was very frustrating as Bradley did more to lose this than southern did to win. The one part of basketball where the other team has no part in the outcome is free throws. And by missing as many as we did I felt like we gave this one away. Tough one to swallow I guess.

Tough loss for me... My hatred for SIU grows every time. Anyway, refs let them have their way with us as usual, but we didn't take care of business with those free throws either. Still have that outside chance at NCAA bid, but no matter what happens in the postseason, it's been a great and exciting year.

Congrats to the Salukis, now do some damage in the NCAA.

I read a story about Jamaal Tatum that gave me a whole lot more respect for him than ever.
When one of the reporters asked Jamaal about his tattoos, he responded,
"I'd rather talk about my academics".

What a great comeback line, Jamaal. Some reporters are really dumb!
Jamaal Tatum has nearly a 4-point GPA and is on the All Academic team, so I love his response!
