since when do you get a technical foul for yelling at your player to get up ?

I think I see the difference now.

It was a 4-point swing after the technical.

HOWEVER, the technical didn't cause the 4-point swing as only 2 points were scored as a result of the technical (the 2 ft's).

So it was indeed a 4-point swing AFTER the technical but certainly cannot be said that the technical, deserved or not, caused the 4-point swing as only 2 points are directly attributal to the technical.

Certainly a lot of official bashing after this game.

What do you think of the Warren shove on Wilkins? Did that warrant a technical?

I didn't think so and the two officials closest to the play weren't going to call a thing until the guy out at half court came running in claiming he was going to call double technicals...it even took the guy a while to explain and convince the other two guys that his calls weren't really wacky...

Wilkins clearly was the instigator and preemptively laid a totally unprovoked, cowardly, blindside shoulder slam into Andrew Warren...
Warren reacted as just about anyone would by lifting his arms to protect himself and pushing Wilkins away to be sure Frenchie wasn't going to slam him again.
I thought AW's actions were 100% defensive.....
I saw nothing in AW's actions to warrant a "T", and maybe only a warning should have been given even to JW -- but maybe a "T" based on what else the refs may have seen or heard.

Keep in mind, that Wilkins had just been fouled on his shot (at 6:26 1st half) -- but fouled by Jake Eastman -- NOT ANDREW WARREN...
I think it was a total brain cramp and bozo move by Wilkins to just presume the foul was committed by Warren and lash out and attack Drew - simply because by the time Wilkins turned around, that's who he saw first.
Wilkins is 13-38 (34%) on 3-pointers in Valley play, but he did hit an important one. He has a 135 career points in the Valley compared to 1419 by Andrew Warren....not to mention Warren's career 3pt shooting is a ton better than JW's......so see you on Thursday in St. Louis Frenchie...

shwoooo...glad that's over....that was my point...heck if they miss 2 ft's the T doesn't cost us anything

The Carmichael T may have been worse than any of the other calls.

This officiating crew lost control of the game. IMO. No way around it.

Certainly a lot of official bashing after this game.

IMHO

The Carmichael T was legit as he hung on the rim way too long.

Jank's T was legit even though the situation that led to his T was not. I understand why he got the T as the officials completely blew the call that led to him getting upset. I don't blame Jank for getting a T as if I were coaching, I would have gotten a T as well.

The double technical on AW and Wilkins was a good call as the officials had to establish control of the game. There was a lot of jawing going on before the T and AW was caught reacting to Wilkins' shove.

The JL T was bogus and was a real momentum changer.

I hope that these officials never referee another MVC game again! At least I can dream....

Losing 2 starters shouldn't make you have almost the worst season on record. I'm sure their is a coach out there that can bring talent out of this group.

Right on Jason! We saw what this group can do in the first 13-14 minutes of the game - a good coach has his team playing that way almost the entire game.

For 13 minutes we tried running an offense...

After that, we stood around and tried to find Drew every single time down...

We have spurts of good play, but we have 5x as many spurts of bad play...

I honestly am not sure exactly where you can place blame there, but let me say, our Sweet 16 team had the same exact issues we are seeing through 1/2 the season...

Yeah, I tell that to my dad now. He's used that diabetes thing for too long. It's just an excuse now.

Just because you are sick of dealing with it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Um I don't even know what to do with that BnC....

I thought about laughing but I thought that may be wrong, web though I think you meant it in a joking manner...

It was sarcasm, which doesn't come through on a screen. Point is, you cannot ignore injuries just because you don't want them to exist.

I thought the double T on Wilkins and AW was reasonable. I thought Wilkins was acting like an ***** for most of the game-- and having just an awful game, right up until that dagger 3. I don't blame AW for reacting like he did, he did actively shove Wilkins after Wilkins bumped him. It would have been better gamesmanship to tumble to the ground to sell the thing and get Wilkins the flagrant foul (and maybe tossed), but AW's human and if someone bumps me, I'll push him before I fall down.

Also thought the Carmichael T was justified, he was hanging for no reason for about a month.

As for the Jank T, I couldn't see the charge/block issue from where I sit, but while it sounds like Jank had a case his reaction was really over the top and probably T-worthy.

The Les T was absolutely ridiculous, not only had the refs completely missed an amazing travelling experience at mid court, but Les was very obviously yelling at Egolf to get up and go do his job on defense.

I don't think the refs "lost the game" for Bradley, but none of that evens anything out, at all. It took 2 points directly out of Bradley's lead with no time coming off and advanced the ball into Bradley territory which allowed ISU's well executed play to literally halve the lead. Even the weird clockdoom at the end of the game wouldn't allow me to put the refs in the equally bad territory if I talk about the number of FTs Jackie Carmichael took, the number of fouls Carmichael had at the end of regulation that weren't related to hanging on the rim (0!), the number of fouls Alex Rubin DIDN'T have despite his ridiculous mugging of whoever was bring the ball up on every play, or the Blake Mishler NBA superstar treatment in the first half. Then that brings us to the end of the game, when there was a very questionable call that gave ISU FTs and the lead despite good clean defense followed by the HUGE foul they put on Andrew Warren at the end of the game in the act of shooting-- you think he might have made 2 of 3? The refereeing in this game was disgusting, but it WAS in ISU's favor particularly at critical moments. I don't think it's a conspiracy or anything, but it was disgusting.

Speaking of agendas...

Why for the last 18 years or so do I feel like the officials use our head coach for target practice?

Are we just THAT disliked?

I hear you on that. I know we're supposed to ignore outliers with the officials, but there have been so many, and almost never have I come away feeling fortunate that the officials benefitted us that it erodes my ability to ignore it. It's like somebody's bumper doesn't have a sticker proclaiming contributions to the Fraternal Order of Referees.

And thing is, it doesn't seem to matter who or where we play in the conference...

Bradley has been given a bad rep for some reason or another...

And before someone says it's because I'm so invested in Bradley Basketball, I've watched many a Valley game the last 20 years, and I rarely ever see teams get the screws put to them like we get...

Well besides the 2-3 years that a good coach will make a run at getting most of the calls (Herren, Stallings, Altman)

Good grief. The T on Carmichael for hanging on the rim cost ISU a 4-point swing, too.

True but he did indeed hang on the rim.....

Jim did NOT yell/stomp/stare at the refs is any way.

The ref didn't even LOOK at Jim.....until AFTER he made the call.

I understood the double T...Wilkins did a "weak" bump into Warren and warren SHOULD have just laughed it off but understand why he shoved back. I was just glad they got Wilkins becuase USUALLY its the 2nd guy that gets nabbed.

You are right, he did hang on the rim.

He also had Egolf hanging on him. And another Brave about to lean into him.

I didn't see that...I thought he blew past everybody and had an uncontested slam. I think he did a bit of a pullup and that will get you T'd most times. If they slam, hang, look down to make sure no one is below them they usually let it slide.

WHen you slam and you knees come up to your waist and above.....you B hangin.....

He did have an uncontested jam, but Egolf got his arm over Carmichael's shoulder and it might've been Eastman (I'll have to watch the replay again) coming in from the side either late to defend or knocked off a screen.

Either way, Carmichael had one guy on his back and out of the corner of his eye reason to think another could have been under him if he came straight down.

In fact, he and Egolf both would've gone down hard if he hadn't swung the way he did. And that probably would've been a foul on Will.
