Shockers looking awful

There is still plenty of time in the 2nd half, but Wichita looks like they are going to get run off the floor.

Awful shooting, inexcusable turnovers and decisions.

I hope they can turn this around.

Shaka Smart just walked right past Marshall....not even a glance. He did shake hands but that's it....Ouch.....

Wichita simply got outplayed and out-coached tonight

Maybe Smart is not a fan of Marshall either! :D But I'd give anything to see Smart take over the Illini job. He may be occupied for awhile though. :)

Absolute tragedy for the Valley.... No one will be able to whine about the MVC not getting respect or higher seeds than 8 with this bust by WSU. The talking heads on tv/radio will bring this up over and over again in future years about putting more than 1 team in the dance from 'mid majors' or that the MVC is now a low major...

Shocks have set the Valley back a ton with this loss. :-x

Got to hope CU pulls off an upset or two, or, the Valley will look like the Pac 12 next season, but with only one team in the dance, the MVC Tourney winner.

I don't know if things will be that bad, and yes we do see some strong BCS teams that get upset in the first round every year. But of course we are talking about one out of six teams in a BCS conference versus one out of two in a mid-major conference, which agreed is not good for their perception.

Oh well, at least the Pac 12 is looking worse than we are. California absolutely got slaughtered by a South Florida team that wasn't that much better than them! Hopefully UNLV puts Colorado out of their misery tonight!

Oh, and of course I forgot about an Arizona Pac 12 team getting uspet as a #1 NIT seed for the second time in four years! Ouch! First it was Arizona St. upset by Jacksonville St. in 2009. Now here comes that Bucknell team beating Arizona last night! Sure the other 3 Pac 12 teams won last night, but at least our two MVC teams won on the road. At least the Valley has done well in the NIT the last couple of years.

UNLV getting destroyed 1st round for the 2nd year in a row.

Well, I've got a TON of egg on my face, they were my National Champs ;) ah well, another year another piece of crap bracket hahaha

I think a decent and deep cast has made Gregg Marshall look better than he's gonna look next year if he stays...
..plus -- I wonder how he liked playing on a "neutral court"...as he whined about a few days ago...?
Yesterday showed that if his guys don't nail their threes, they look undisciplined and chaotic...
There were plenty of times they rushed the ball up like an NBA team and hurried a shot before even looking to pass......where have we seen that??

Ragland with zero assists, 3 TO?? Stutz only 2 FG's?
...let's see if Marshall finds solace in interviewing elsewhere......

Wichita lost the game when Stutz missed 2 lay-ups in the last 2 minutes of the game, probably because he was sitting on the bench the whole game with foul trouble. His 2nd foul was a pretty weak charge call where a guy flopped on a pass and Stutz barely touched the guy.

Marshall was interviewed athalftime by the courtside CBS person and she asked him what he will expect from Stutz in the second half. Marshall just said emphatically that he just hoped they'd let him play. He was obviously upset with the calls.
And I can't disagree much. Some of the foul calls were such slight and incidental contact, while the officials allow mayhem on other plays. The physical play that's allowed during the blocking out on rebounds would easily qualify as attempted murder if it occurred on a street.
