SF Giants pick up Carlos Beltran

They gave up a great pitching prospect for another run at the pennant/Div Championhip/World Series this year....

Hope this works out for them since resigning Beltran after this season may be real difficult....

Of course if the Giants win back to back WS, they may have the $$ to lock up Beltran for another 3-4 years.

Unfortunately he is a Scott Boras client.
 
They have had great fan support all year and the team is actually flushed with money. They will also be shedding some large contracts the next 2 years and their 3 main starters are all under contract for the time being. They are in good shape and will probably make a play at retaining him.

It's astounding how much they are paying Barry Zito and even more astounding how well they are doing with a player that could have easily been that team's albatross.
