Scheduling dilemmas

There's a little more news on the story of Saint Louis' Rick Majerus turning down a home-and-home with Seton Hall in favor of a home game with Rockhurst...

SLU is playing Chicago State -- of all teams....lowly CSU with SLU having almost nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing such a historically horrid team!

And yet -- now it's being revealed that their game with Chicago State is the front end of .....
A home and home agreement!
wow --- turning down a home and home with a Big East team and landing a home and home with one of the worst D-I teams....now that's recruiting genius and prowess all rolled into one...

Majerus didn't turn down the home-and-home with Seton Hall, his bosses turned it down because they wanted a quota of home games filled.

Chicago St was a choice in order to get a player from Chicago to play a "homecoming" game of sorts....but couldn't you just do a buy game at DePaul instead. Then again, maybe DePaul won't schedule St Louis ;)

Hmm..interesting spin, but it doesn't add up...
Mitchell is NOT from Chicago he's from Milwaukee -- and there's at least a dozen places he could play nearby from UW-GB to Bradley if he simply wanted to get within a few hundred miles of Mitchell's home town....
even playing at Platteville would be better than playing at Chicago State!!
And I can't imagine any of his family or friends wants to travel to the area of town where CSU is...

are you saying RM is not responsible for his own schedule?

Yeah, CSU is questionable though. I didn't say his logic was sound ;)

As for the schedule, I bet he had to fill some quota about home games (remember reading it somewhere, can't find the source, I know, I know). My guess is in order to schedule a home-and-home with SHU, he's have to give up a road game at Portland, Duke, or Missouri St.

Mitchell isn't from Chicago but...

Brian Daly is from Evanston, IL
Dwayne Evans is from Bolingbrook, IL
Mike McCall is from Chicago, IL

As a SLU alum, I am still not saying this is a good game but they do have players from the Chicago area. Just like Willie Reed is from KC area and may be the reason for a return game to Rockhurst next year. Not even good games, they are awful but there may be a legitimate reason.

Wait a second - return game to Rockhurst? Really? Wow.

BTW -- DePaul just finally released their schedule and it's pitiful....not one single BCS opponent among the non-conference teams scheduled....they may catch one in a tournament but none scheduled...their slate is terrible...

And they're playing not one but two regular season home games at their 3,000 seat on-campus arena!

Again, will all DePaul fans on this board who care where they play their home games please respond.
