Sam gets release...

Choices are always good! Making the right one is a whole different ball game. Sometimes not doing anything is the best option.

Good luck to Sam in whatever decision he makes. Still would love to see Sam get a special senior night in a BU uni similar to Andrew he deserves it. But if its not meant to be then best of luck Sam you are one of my favorite Braves in my lifetime.

Once a Brave Always a Brave

Well, now we have that one scholarship open for Max B..... ick. I'm glad I'm going to Oklahoma next year. Could suffer an even more depressing basketball fate here than there! haha

Great news for Sam. I will always think of Sam as a Brave, but I am glad that he now has options to finish his last year of eligibility.:)

Cross not in the loop on this too?

I'm really trying to have faith in the administration but they are not making it easy on me.

What does the administration have to do with it? If his decision is in fact because he wants to pursue his masters degree in sports communications, WHICH BRADLEY DOES NOT OFFER, then he was leaving anyway wouldnt you think? You guys just keep thinking this a basketball only decision which couldnt be farther from the truth. Chances are Sam will not be playing professionally, now if I am wrong on that I couldnt be any happier for him. But with a masters degree in the field he has been studying for 4 years, he has a better chance of getting a good job out of grad school.

With that said, Sam has a long, prosperous life ahead of him whether his last year of eligibility is in a Bradley uniform or not. I wish him the best on his endeavors

Wish Sam the best. He is the perfect player at BU. Dedicated, passionate, hard nosed, ice in his veins at the end of a game, and fantastic team player. I wish there were more kids like him out there. He has had a great legacy at BU and his family have shown they bleed red and white. Good luck to Sam wherever he goes and I hope it leads to greater success in his career later.

Thank you jrish! :!: It's getting old amckillip! :!:  No where in that blurb of an article does it even mention Cross not knowing. Don't you think somebody higher than Parker would have had to approve this? :?: Give it a break! :!: :!:

Sam leaving doesn't open a scholarship for next year. They were all already spoken for. Someone else would have had to leave to make one available for Sam next season.

Best of luck to Sam! I don't see how anyone can blame the kid for wanting to go to the NCAA with his last year of eligibility and BU not offering a masters in his major. The kid gave heart and soul to BU and was class all the way. I will be pulling for him big-time!

Cross says yesterday Sammy hadn't asked. Now he gets his release? EIther that's the fastest turn around ever, Cross was out of the loop or lied.

Or the paperwork didnt get to Cross' desk until today, meaning he would have no clue as to if Sam had asked for a release or not and hence Sam got his release today. This isnt some thing where Sam just strolls into Dr. Cross' office and asks "can I have my release?" It is a very formal thing and paperwork tends to move slow through offices, especially ones that just had a firing.

Agreed.....according to Cross yesterday SM hadn't even asked for a release. I guess a lot has happened since he made that statement. Then again, maybe he never made that statement to begin with and it was just more bad reporting from the PJS. Either way, it started when the administration supposedly tried to be "classy" and not release a statement regarding JL until the Monday after the tournament. I'm not sure how they thought it wouldn't get out since it was apparently being talked about in St. Louis by the people in the know. I guess it's also possible the PJS will run a story tomorrow stating SM has not been granted his release.

I realize nothing has officially been released by Bradley regarding TB, but if everyone comes back and all four recruits show up (and nobody has announced they aren't at this point) we do not have a scholarship available.

Your star player files for release and the AD doesn't know, and doesn't get notified/asks about it before he gives the paper a quote? Come on!

One thing I could take. But this release thing, the Max B offer, the way the firing was handled? This athletic department/administration is anything but the first class program we expect, at least from my observations.

Pretty sure max could afford to be a preferred walk on for a year. Especially since his grades have to be decent since he has Ivy League schools looking at him that he could potentially get plenty of academic money that would offset costs. Let him play one year as a preferred walk on and give him a scholie next year if he works out and is ok with it.

You think he's going to take preferred walk-on status at BU who has no coach and is totally up in the air when he has scholarship offers from Big Ten schools?

depends who the coach is, and if that coach would guarantee a scholie for the next season. It also depends on what Max wants to do. If he wants to stay close to home and play alot or wants to go to Illinois or Michigan and ride the pine but be at a big 10 school. I dont know, Ive never talked to him and cant read his mind so im not going to go on any further.

Agreed...... but when did we last have a year when everyone returned. I can think of 2 or 3 players that may not be back (and that held true even when Les was our coach). Trust me, an opening won't be a problem.
