Hold your breath...it is pretty weak!

Furman is where Richwoods grad Justin Dehm is going to school in the fall. It will be convenient for his family and fans to go to SLU and watch him play. :)

SLU's non-conference usually isn't very strong. They usually have one pretty strong team they face each year (like Pitt this season and UNC last year), but this is a pretty typical SLU schedule if memory serves me correctly.

I'm sure this schedule was put together before Majerus was hired.

And that tournament in Pittsburgh must be one of the worst in the country (I assume it's a tournament). NC A&T has one of the worst teams in the country and I'm quite sure (let me look up their name again) Houston Baptist is not much better.

Houston Baptist was actually a pretty good NAIA team last season, and was 13th ranked,
but lost their first postseason tourney game and ended the season 22-7......and in 2006 they made it to the NAIA quarterfinal round
where they ended up losing to Oklahoma City College, whose superstud was none other than ex-ISU Redbird, Lorenzo Gordon.

BUT STILL-- they are an NAIA team and are not likely to be able to hold their own against any NCAA D-I team.

SLU will play four teams in nonconference play that were in the top 50 of the RPI, seven in the top 100.

Now to me, that seems to pretty good, based on last year's RPI's.

I also think that Bradley has a pretty good schedule, based on last year's RPI's.

Assuming Bradley plays Vandy, BU will play four teams in nonconference play that were in the top 50 of the RPI, 7 in the top 100.

But for all you folks above that ripped SLU for their non-conference schedule, did you rip BU as well? Because if you look at RPI # of the top 50 and top 100, their schedules are pretty close.

And I am not ripping BU's schedule. It is very, very good. I just think SLU's schedule is right there as well. Maybe it doesn't have the # of BCS names on it....RPI wise both schedules are close . (top 50 / top 100 last year.)

cpacmel, I think if you do a search on the Bradley schedule, you'll see that not everybody was thrilled. Four road MAC games and some underwhelming final additions to the schedule. Some were more outspoken than others. I'm too lazy to look it up.

I know georgethedog and squirrel were outspoken about it. Not sure who else were.

It's no big deal. I just see their schedules similar, based on last year's RPI #'s.

If Rick Majerus is serious about wanting to join the MVC in the future, I would think he would push to schedule schools like Bradley, SIU, and others in the MVC. But from what I recall when he was at Utah is that he played a high percentage of cupcakes in his preconference schedules, and avoided tough nonconference matchups.

Does Majerus still own the largest margin of victory over the Braves at Carver Arena (I think it was the first BU game I went to in the fall of '92)?

Coach, they are playing SIU and also Missouri state. Two pretty good natural rivalries and Valley teams that they will probably lose to
When I saw those games scheduled I thought, maybe they are trying to build credence in THE VALLEY.
The sooner we ad Butler and SLU, the better off THE VALLEY will be.
Get er done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I saw that. And I was happy to see him scheduling Valley teams. IMO he has more to gain right now, since those Valley teams have been rated higher than SLU for several years, and they have been beating SLU at the recruiting game in their own backyard. I think that's why Majerus wants to play SIU and MSU, to try to reassert SLU's position with the St. Louis area recruits.
The question was whether Bradley will work a deal to play them, and even though BU is not as much of a geographical rival, I think it would still benefit both schools. We'll see if Majerus sees it that way. If SIU and MSU pound them the next couple years, I wouldn't be surprised if he backs away from Valley scheduling.
