Stan was one of the nicest people I ever met. RIP.
He took the Bradley job in 1986 after Dick Versace was let go, mainly because he had just been fired by the Chicago Bulls and was out of work at the time. He liked being at Bradley, but he always wanted to be back in the NBA. But it worked out fairly well for Bradley, because Hersey Hawkins and several other players were already making arrangements to leave and transfer to other schools. Stan's pro experience, and his plan to utilize a NBA-style offense appealed to Hersey and the others, and none of the players ended up leaving. For that, all Bradley fans should thank Stan. Imagine what it would have been like if one of the greatest Bradley players of all time had become an All-American and superstar for some other school, while Bradley spent the rest of the 1980's rebuilding.
