Rienk Mast at Nebraska

yoda

Well-known member
shocking story - Rienk Mast was riding his motor scooter, minding his own business (Oct. 19), when he was attacked, knocked off his scooter,
then beaten by an attacker in what police call a "random act of violence"

He will not play in Nebraska's exhibition game Sunday

"According to a probable cause affidavit, Mast was riding a scooter around 9:45 p.m.
near 13th and L Streets when a 28-year-old Lincoln resident knocked Mast off the scooter
and began hitting him. Police arrested the man, who was charged with three-degree assault
and resisting arrest. Mast went to the hospital with an apparent facial injury."

Head coach Fred Hoiberg did not give a " timeline for his potential return.".

Their Sunday opponent, Doane, appears to be able to score, as they won their first game 104-38

strange- not many details being made public -
event happened Oct 19, 8 days ago, and Rienk was hospitalized with facial injuries and is being held out of competition
at least through Sunday's exhibition game, so it does sound like possibly his injuries were significant.
How was it that word didn't leak out to their press that he was victim of a crime, in the hospital, missing practices?

There is a comment on one of the Nebraska message boards posted last Sunday:
"got injured pretty bad (may require facial surgery) and is doubtful to play this year"

Now it is apparent why Rienk did not play in Nebraska's closed scrimmage against Utah last Saturday.

Attacker named - Rienk has broken nose

TERRIBLE!
What we have let our cities turn into the past few years in America is EMBARRASSING!

I was recently in downtown Lincoln on business and was not impressed with the feeling of security at night. Sad.

How do you make the decision to attack a ripped 6’10” guy? Had to be “impaired” in a serious way.

Nebraska plays new-to-DI Lindenwood tonite, Rienk Mast still listed as “Questionable” and was doing only “non-contact” in practice up thru the weekend
