There are unconfirmed rumors online of a possible pending NCAA violation case against St. John's head coach Rick Pitino. Pitino took over an 18-15, 7-13 team at St. John's 2 years ago, and immediately turned them into a winner. This past year, they were 31-5, 18-2 in the Big East, and one of the best teams in the country.
But the current rumors suggest that one of the ways he turned things around so quickly may have been included tampering with recruits and players at other schools, and "enticing" (bribed) them to transfer to St. John's.
Pitino is no stranger to cheating and scandals. In 2017 he was punished by the NCAA and Louisville's 2013 National Championship was vacated for the stripper scandal at Louisville. Then he was involved in the FBI "pay for play" scandal which lead to his firing from Louisville.
 
Univ of Hawaii got an NCAA penalty of 2 years' probation while Rick Pitino was an assistant & interim head coach there in 1975-76
 
Yeah, I purposely didn't go that far back. There was also the sex and extortion scandal he was involved in back in 2009-10
 
Pitino definitely lives by the motto ‘at any cost’. I think he’ll do anything to win and beyond that, he’s still a darn good coach.

I’m not sure how anyone can expect tampering to be taken seriously in the current environment. With the open portal and no penalty for transferring, what difference does it make at this point? Makes me wonder who he pissed off at the NCAA.
