Richwoods Shootout This Weekend

Was he playing with the JV squad or the Varsity squad? I know he got some minutes with the Varsity late last season.

If you got a chance to see the JV squad, I'd be curious to hear your opinions on Jack Murphy and Jared Dehm. Richwoods is really lacking in size, and I was hoping that both Murphy and Mason had grown some since the end of the season. Also, Richwoods really needs an outside shooter to complement Mason Alwan. Dehm and Owens seem like the best options.

Do you have any idea who the 6-8 playe on Woodruff is, or what class he is in? I'd also be curious to hear how Deontre Dorsey and Tylandor Amos did.

Also, do you know if Romeo Johnson was playing in the shootout? I'd also be curious to hear your thoughts on Brandon Watson, Jacoby Roddy, Jeff Stokes, and Landis Farmer, if they were present.

Were there any other Class of 2013 players that caught your eye, besides the once you mentioned from Pekin?
 
Parish I believe sat out the tournament because he has something wrong with his back (Stress Facture). I think thats what I heard..


Dehm looked good for the for the JV team. Murphy is a Richwoods big guy 6'3 or 6'4. Does a lot of things well, but would be a real tough player if he developed guard skills. But with the lack of size at Richwoods I feel he will replace the spots of David Anderson and Tony Fraizer. Trey Owens can shoot the ball. Sometimes he looks real confident out there sometimes he looks real tenative. Should help spread the floor though this year for Richwoods.

Big guy on Woodruff is a Sophomore who did not play basketball last year. HUGE!!! Will they develop him at all though???? Thats the question.

Trey Dorsey was Mr. Everything for Woodruff this weekend. He had to score, defend, pass, rebound, and every other little you could think of. Tylander Amos was in attendance but was in street clothes sitting in the Stands and not on the bench with the team. He was not injured from what I was told.

Romeo Johnson moved to Mississippi with his Mother. However, rumors are circulating that he might move back to Peoria.

Landis Farmer, Jeff (Keke) Stokes, Jocobi Roddy all looked good for Manual. Keke got the most minutes out of those 3 but they all played a good amount. Manual is going to be real tough this year. Kudos to the job Booth is doing there.

midstate, do you know of a big 6-3, Class of 2014 kid (just going to be an 8th grader this fall) named LaCar Crawford?
I saw him play and he had some real potential. He is at Rolling Acres but will be at Richwoods.
 
I have never seen him play, however I have had a couple of people mention him to me. I am around high school basketball alot, don't get out to much grade school ball, but wish I could.
 
We give grief to NCAA coaches offering 8th/9th graders scholorships, but yet we have, it appears, no issues discussing 8th graders to be.

Informative information from all involved, I just find it very interesting.
 
I don't agree with offering kids before they are in High School. However, just like anything there are exceptions to the rule, I guess. Its a touchy topic, strong opinoins on both sides. Good and Bad to both as well.

Just like the NBA not allowing high schoolers graduates to enter the Draft. You can fight for our country, you can get a normal job, you can drive, you can vote... Yet, you don't have the right to play in the NBA. I personally like the rule of sending kids to college, but they should make them go for 2 yrs not just 1. But thats a whole different debate.

Kids keep getting bigger, faster, strong, and more explosive at younger ages. Recruiting that is done properly is based on developing a relationship to where the recruit feels comfortable with the staff and school. The sooner you can establish a bond or relationship the better chances you have. (When recruitment is handle properly). So I cannot blame schools that offer kids early on. If they feel the kid is that much of a stud, its there risk or reward that he will be that good down the road. Coaches job whether you like it or not is to WIN GAMES, if they don't they get Canned! So, like I said can't blame them for doing things to try to get recruits that are or should be studs.

How many coaches do you see or hear about getting fired because of success rating relating to WINS vs. Loses (MOST)

Sometimes you can hold onto or save your JOB by 1 single recruit or recruiting class. So as long as its with in the rules, go ahead in my mind and do it. (Even Though I don't agree with offering kids before HIGH SCHOOL)
