Reynolds at practices

I think you'd be surprised..many who travel on road games seem to be enjoying the travel and social end of it as much as the intricacies of the game..
In fact, it's not a whole lot different that home games, as I am sure there's a few fans in suits and mink coats where you sit who are there as much for the refreshments and good social time than for the game, but they're still loyal fans who support BU..

yeah...I'm sure there are....but I don't have refreshments in a suit or when I'm wearing my mink:)

It's kind of a no win for DR as far as reporting...many fans don't care much about the mundane things with BU and those like here on this board are usually informed by someone and then it gets spread around here...

Today in the brave briefs they talk about Andrew's new tatoo I think...I really could care less about stuff like that

Drew's arms are HUGE! He is another Brave that has really added some strength over the summer. I can't wait to see him on the court! :)

yeah -- I don't really talk much about the kids' personal lives unless they're in the headlines...
but when you say "no win" ..I can't imagine what you mean...

I would love to get paid for writing about Bradley University!!!
I would be up there on campus all the time and write everything I could!!
All I ask is a little coverage that is positive about the players and do a little digging..

If I didn't have a job that keeps me away from the campus, I'd love to go up there, watch practice, interview whoever would talk to me and I'd write all day long......

What is "no win" about giving us some articles on BU -- you think some people would gripe because there's too much on BU??
And don't cordon it off and hide it in a separate section that requires extra clicks and links....
where nobody knows how to find it on the internet -- that's self-defeating -- just put it in the main sports section!

You are the man, T! I agree with everything you have said!

I don't know that the majority of readers are as fascinated by every little thing written about the team. And quite frankly then you have sports(baseball, soccer, etc) issues as well as gender equity issues where everyone would want some publicty. If they did everyday interviews it would be ho-hum.

By no win I mean we all have our preferences. Most on this board would love to see as much on BU basketball as possible but the PJS writes about all sports. So there is only so much space.
Besides they have their blogs, forums, etc, where they can add more for the more rabid fans who have the inquiring minds.
I've heard Cardinal fans whine about more Cub coverage, Illini fans about BU coverage, high schools about college coverage...well you get the point and so on. I think there sports dept. does fine for the most part in regard to coverage.
Just my opinon

I'm with T on this one. There is so much more creative things that the PJS could do with their BU coverage. It isn't as if they have to travel very far to cover the team. and fwiw... the PJS is the last place I would go for MLB and NFL coverage.

So how much should they write about BU in the off season? During the season? I just think everyone has there own desires about what they want to see in the sports section and how much they want to see of BU.
It would be interesting to poll the people that get the paper(most on here already said they don't read it) and see what they think about BU coverage.

lefty - this is a Pro-BU board that makes little pretense that it's here for the guys that are real BU fans, the koolaid types,
(even tho others are welcome...)
so it's no surprise that you might get the real pro-BU koolaid opinions here....

just keep giving us more 'til we holler "uncle"..

I am not asking for 24-7 coverage of BU basketball each month in the paper. I will state that journalists with access to practices etc can and should report more than what they are presently writing in the paper and internet. Last week, the guys finished their hell week practices. Did we see any coverage of this in the paper? There are very creative ways that the PJS could cover some of these events that would be appealing to a mass audience and a better read than what we are currently getting in the paper. jmho

T, I agree with most of your comments concerning this thread, but my group of BU fans went to many road games, starting in the late 70's, for many years. We knew everything about BU basketball and IMO all the fans that took those trips were the same way. Sure, it was a social event, especially for my group at Indiana St, but the game was the main reason we made the trips. Back then, if the JS wrote a story about the Braves it was in the paper, not hidden in a blog where many fans can't see it.

i understand what you are saying T.....I'm not pro paper necessarily but I'm not a basher of it either. I read and take it for what it's worth...

Did you ever think that maybe no PJS reporters/journalists were at those practices? I imagine these were all closed practices up until the 1st official practice last Friday.

Doesn't mean that Dave Reynolds can't take a page out of Jounalism 101 and ask a question about it.

"Hey Andrew, having just gone through "hell week" with the team, was there anything that stood out to you about this group of guys?"

Or how about some quotes from the new coaches?

"Coach Platt, now that you've seen a couple practices, who do you feel is going to step up and be the defensive leader of this team?"

"Coach Scott, what is it like being at BU and being on the other side of the ball?"

I learned a long time ago that if you want to know something that you don't already - YOU HAVE TO ASK.

You got me partner!
Good point - I'm sure a lot of the squad is willing to share their experiences.

Maybe their availability is limited to media day, which has not happened yet. Just guessing.
