Report from Itoo Hall

Nice to see a lot of the great posters there, Mike Radigan, Da Coach, BUfan 9, chitown, and squeaky.

Agree the crowd was a bit smaller than last year, but this year's event received little or no mention in the PJ Star, wasn't widely advertised, and came on a baseball playoff night.

Anyway, the crowd that was there were great fans, many of whom I have known for years and see all the time at BU games.

Food was fine, and was served right away and the players and coaches mingled, talked with fans, sat and ate at the various tables, then afterwards (by about 6:30-6:45PM) began speaking to the crowd.

The womens team was introduced and the clear fan favorite is Jasmine Wright, Lawrence "Boogie" Wright's little sister.
Byt the way, I asked her if she has a nickname, and she says she does NOT.

I thinknthe board posters need to help come up with a nickname for Jasmine!!

Then the mens team were all introduced, Jim Les spoke a bit and then all then all the players spoke. I will go deeper into much of what was said, leter when I have more time to post, but here are a few snippets.

Andrew Warren did a credible Jim Les-impersonation.
Ray Brown did a good Chuck Buescher-impersonation.

Saihou Jassey is doing fine in workouts, knows the game better, and will be a big help this year.

Sam Singh's knee is better than expected at this point and he will be playing by shortly into the season.

Ryan Phillips is a great practice player and good addition to the team chemistry, as is Brian Lavin who's back this season.

JJ Tauai & Daniel Ruffin are co-captains, and will be team leaders. They are great guys. In fact all of the kids make up a team with great chemistry and it is quite obvious they all like each other and have a lot of fun together.

Matt Salley is a good singer and rapper.
Zach can dunk on just about anyone.
Jeremy Fears seems to be a Ladies man, Jeremy Crouch's shot is on again and he is a scorer, Danny Adams has bulked up and is ripped, Will is still Mr. Personality, and one more thing...

I was told by two different people, one coach and one player, that the single most physically impressive player that they mentioned is Will Egolf.
He worked out during his visit to BU and this is what they said about him.
Shoots the lights out like Dirk Nowitzki
Can sky and loves to get the alley oop for a flying dunk.
Beat virtually every current player when they put him through various agility drills, and was considerably stronger than he looks. And he was only a high school junior when they were seeing all this. On top of that he absolutely loved BU, loved the players, and is excited about coming to Peoria next year.
That's not to say the other recruits BU has locked up aren't impressive as well, but not much has been said about Will Egolf, and of course it was held a little under wraps, since he can't sign for another month, and nobody wants to take chances with creeps like Kelvin Sampson on the prowl stealing recruits after they verbal.

Lastly, Jim gave a Book it on this team doing better than is presently being predicted. The single strongest motivating factor is the fact that people are picking BU to be in the bottom of the pack.
Don't believe it for a minute. This group is solid and ready to go.
Also, thanks to all those who came up and offered kind words about BradleyFans.com.
I kinda thought I was still somewhat anonymous, but thanks to Mike Radigan ( ), I guess some of the posters know who I am. But appreciate the kind words. I love doing the reports and stuff, and it's great that other BU fans are out there anxiously awaiting reports about the team, etc.

Thanks for the report....first one I've missed in a million years.
NOT to get too giddy about Will he Golf  but one BU admin. told me think of the kid from Gonzaga_____ (early Alzheimers).

While that may be a stretch and unfair the staff is REALLY excited about Will.

I'll be happy if he's Casey Cavalry!

Danny Adams was pretty ripped already, how much bigger can he get?

I personally would like to see a less ripped and more flexible/better scoring DA. We're going to need it this year.

Cavalry was awesome. He was a Gamer too!

(Once I posted... I went into a 15 second meltdown trying to remember Cavalry's name - then tried a google search for 'Gonzaga roster 1998'... and gave up too early - nice work there BBrave)

glad you included something about the ladies. boogie's sister nickname????? will have to see her play first.

glad we are finally starting to focus on this season. too many bu fans i know are just righting this season off and hoping next will be better. not me.

I can tell you this team and these coaches are not writing this season off.
They have taken those preseason predictions that "Bradley has lost too much" and "they'll be battling Indiana State for the bottom of the Valley" as rallying calls to motivate themselves to extremely hard work, conditioning all summer, and playing hard to win.
As I have said all summer, the Valley is generally won by the team with the best and most experienced guards, and teams (like UNI the past several years who have played consistently with 3-4 solid guards on the floor at one time) have done very well in the Valley.

i honestly think we have the best backcourt in the valley with ruff, jj and will.

Did you forget about Tatum and Young? They've made a habit of beating us routinely. I think we've beaten them once since they've been at SIU. What about CU and Nate Funk? What about WSU with Ogirri, Couisnard, and Braeuer? I don't think BU is even in the top 4-5 backcourts. It doesn't mean we can't be successful, but come on.
