Remy asks for release

I agree GF is bringing in some pretty impressive looking kids late in the recruiting process so that is encouraging and he should do even better when he has a full staff and a full recruiting year at BU. However, I very much agree the loss of RA hurts. I wish him well and can understand his choice to leave. Anyone who thinks a D1 basketball player makes a commitment solely to a university and not to a university + a coach is unrealistic.

Anyone who says "one player" cannot make "that large" a difference is just crazy. Now Remy is just a high school player so the only way to determine if he is a big difference maker at the college level is to assess that in retrospect. He does appear to have great potential.

So, while I wish Remy well and have no ill feelings towards I have to admit part of me hopes he does not turn out to be as good as I "fear" he may be.

For me it's all about what we do from this point out. No use crying over spilled milk. Hopefully Remy becomes a star at a BCS school and not go there and just sit on the bench. Certainly not a surprize that Remy decommitted with JL no longer our coach as a lot of kids go to a school because of the head coach. Nobody knows for sure just how good a team we were going to be this coming season just like nobody knew how bad things ended up last season. It's always great to speculate but to keep doing it is just like beating a dead horse. We need to focus on the 2011-12 Bradley Men's basketball team coached by Geno Ford. I will always appreciate everything JL did for the program even if the conference results weren't what we all hoped for. Certainly the pressure will be on Geno from the opening tip of the new season. Can't wait to see what comes next.

says the guy who also is personally involved with the players.

was kinda hoping for a reply....so what exactly is the problem you have with me?

And why do you have any problem with people that give money to a University that you are a fan of? Or maybe you aren't a fan, I am not sure.

The money they give helps our program in many ways. I appreciate that they have the means and feel an olbligation the donate.

I do know a couple of players personaly, but don't hold that against me, it doesn't make me anymore a fan :) I know more ISU folks personaly, but that doesn't make me a huge ISU fan..

to borrow a phrase from Phineas and Pherb? get ore it...

Remy has received his release and instantly got a number of calls - top schools...
Louisville C-J writer Jody Demling is gonna have coverage of it later this after noon..

Remy's first 2 calls were from the Big Ten-

Maybe those who were knocking Remy, and saying "no big loss", will now admit we lost a fantastic player.

I am willing to bet one of the calls came from Tom Crean. And I am also willing to bet it was not the first time Crean contacted Remy. Since Remy was committed to Bradley by a NLI, it would have been a recruiting violation for him to contact RA before he got his release. But Crean wouldn't do that, would he?

Indiana fans might want to get to know Remy Abell. I think the Hoosiers will have a shot to land the guard. http://bit.ly/f1tJC3

I hate Indiana as much as anyone, but this seems like blindly accusing someone of a violation solely based on conjecture, which isn't very fair.

Sorry. But it is not a blind accusation. It is based on reliable information from someone who knows, and is close to Remy. I have heard informal contact from other schools started immediately after Coach Les was fired. Is anyone surprised this happens?

What a surprise...Jody Demling confirms that one of the first "official" calls was from Tom Crean-

Abell said the first call after his release came from Penn State but by late Friday afternoon had already also heard from Indiana, Xavier, Western Kentucky and Bradley.
???I am pretty sure more will start calling,??? he said.

Why are we still contacting him?

I am surprised if that is true. But with all the time and resources we haver already invested in Remy, another phone call might seem like a good idea, since it doesn't cost anything. But with the big boys calling now, Bradley stands a snowball's chance in....

???With coach Les being fired, he was somebody I wanted to play for, it??™s just been a long process. But my family has helped me and we have stuck with it and been patient."

Yep, he clearly was not going to play for Bradley even if Coach Les was here.

I'd keep calling, doesn't cost much... And if he ends up not liking the schools that do call, he could reconsider, I guess. Another reason that Coach Ford played it right by treating him right (which is always the best approach anyway).
