They're over 600 as of today. That's about 10% of the student body. I think that's a good start for a program that's on the rise. Percentage-wise, I think that would compare very favorably with a lot of places. But like flipper has said, we need MORE!

600, that's awesome news! Hope everyone shows up on Saturday.

I'd prefer keeping it simple, one person, one vote.... Oh and just so you know, those students will be fellow alumni one day.

That's fine with me.

I think some believed the students should make the final decision. That's my beef.

Oh and so students know, those alumni were once students.

(Note: Not ALL students become alumni - ALL alumni were students)

As a recent alumnus, I have to oppose the idea of handing the mascot decision over entirely to the student body.

It's democratic, sure. But a pure democracy is but a tyranny of the majority. If we were relying solely on student votes, we'd end up with Manbearpig, Borat, or something equally ridiculous. Roy the cat, anybody?

Fetz, you're not talking about Tluczek, are you? I think we'll be just fine without him....

Agreed. The decision should lie mostly with the administration and alumni who have chosen to continue their relationship and financial support of the university. Students should have a say, albeit a minimal one.

actually thats exactly who I was talking about. :D

Yeah, I went to the game with him one time and we sat near you. I think that's the game we made those "B" and "U" balloons.

I expect him to be coming down for the DePaul game....
