"Power" conferences?

I noticed on CBS today they were referring to the major conferences as the "power conferences." I guess that refers to media/$$$/committee influence power. On the court, it would seem the Valley had a pretty "powerful" year, and it will be very disappointing if only two teams are rewarded tomorrow.

Example of "power" bias: Would someone explain to me why Stanford, RPI 66, record of 18-12, non-conference SOS of 116, 4-8 against the Top 50, 4-6 in their last ten games, is listed on Lunardi's ESPN bubble while BU is nowhere in sight?

I can live with BU not getting in, but not being part of the conversation is hard to accept with a 20-win season against the 20th strongest sked. Let's hope the Valley teams that do get in make noise again. That's the only path to "power," I suppose, tho it seems we're not going to cash in tomorrow at all from last year's success...in fact, take a step backwards.

Does anyone else think now that "Arch Madness" is selling out that the MVC needs to look at pushing back their conference tournament by a week? Last year I felt that the week between the end of the tournament and the Selection Show is too long to not have something going on.

I saw that Power Conference graphic & thought that it was interesting that the MVC was ahead of two of them at last check, yet they get no mention.

I agree romar, it seems as if all the media has forgotten about how tough the MVC tourny was this year (except for the local papers of course)! Kind of sad if you ask me... But media will be media and there isn't much we can do to change it. With moving the MVC back to this weekend, it sounds like a great idea, but just the fact that there are already soo many games being televised, there would be limited air time for us "mid-major" teams if we did move the tourny back.

I know & a Wed, Thurs, Friday slate would kill attendance, but if the MVC remains one of the Top 6 conferences I'm not sure they can afford not to step up to compete with the others for air time. There are tons of less heralded conferences playing this weekend.
