This is public information from BU's own website (Tax Form 990) so there is no need to delete the link. It states Les' compensation at $401,193 based upon a 40 hour work week. He gets another $18,221 contributed to his retirement plan, plus $8,000 expense allowance. I would have no idea how much extra he makes for endorsements, etc...... My guess would be between $150-250,000.

Thanks for the link B4L. I have already agreed that this figure is accurate for the 2007-2008 year.
But one distinction. That figure is the total compensation paid to him by Bradley for that time period. That is not his base salary. There is a difference.

FYI -Roy Williams' base salary at UNC is $333,000...just for comparison's sake.

Most college coaches have incentives and bonuses written into their contract. Some even have deferred payments and bonuses from prior years, and there are a number of other ways that the total pay can differ from base salary.

Yes but as you are well aware, Mr Williams has a lot of other perks to the job that help boost his income.

This is from a 2007 article... I would also bet that there are other avenues of income for Roy Williams at UNC that aren't mentioned here.

"The new contract will pay the Asheville native an annual base salary of $325,000, a $30,000 expense account and supplemental income paid by the university ranging from $1.2 million to $1.5 million. Bonuses are included for qualifying for and advancing in the NCAA tournament and for graduation rates that meet or exceed the general student body."

Oh absolutely. Wasn't trying to make a point one way or the other, just stating that the whole 'base salary' thing might be misleading.

There was initially a list of 10 candidates that were placed on a list to receive an interview by the BU coach search committee at the Final Four in Atlanta in 2002. I don't recall all the names (if anyone remembers any of the others, let me know).
The names that I can recall from that initial list are:
Jim Les
Wayne McClain (assistant at Illinois- still an assistant at Illinois)
Brian Gregory (assistant at Michigan State- took job as head coach at Dayton 1 year later)
James Jones (head coach of Yale- still there)
Fran McCaffery (head coach of North carolina-Greensboro- now at Siena)
Jimmy Collins (head coach at UIC- still there)
Steve Merfeld (head coach at Hampton- took Evansville job, then moved on to assistant at Bradley)
Ray Giacoletti (head coach at Eastern Washington- stayed there a couple years, then took Utah job, and now an assistant at Gonzaga)

Collins did not show up for his scheduled interview in Atlanta and was eliminated. McCaffery, Merfeld, and Giacoletti pulled out or were eliminated after their first interview. Several candidates were invited back to Bradley a couple weeks after the Final Four for a second interview on campus. Jim Les was not initially among those selected for the second round of interviews, but then with a couple more candidates pulling out, Les was added to the semi-finalists. Then, if I recall, after the campus interviews, Gregory and Jones pulled out for various reasons. Les and McClain were the 2 finalists who were invited to meet with the BU President, Dr. David Broski, and Les was picked over McClain to be the new coach.
