Postgame, UE @ BU

Bradley wins 85-78!

Great game from all our post players. 6 players in double figures.

I think this game was a big step for this team. We struggled inside big time Wed. and came back tonight and were tough in the paint, and got big contributions from all the regulars.

Tough win for the Braves. They'll all be tough from now on I guess. Glad that Singh had some minutes in there. He really helped us out when Salley and Andrews were in foul trouble and made some good plays too.

Definately a great win for the Braves. I don't know what to make of Missouri St on Tuesday. They will either come in as "wounded dogs" or completely demoralized after today's choke job...I mean loss! :D This was one of my two teams that I am genuinely worried about stealing a game in Peoria, with Wichita St being the other, of course.

Come to think of it, with UNI beating Wichita St at the moment in Wichita, UNI is certainly capable of beating us in Peoria too! Well, one game at a time! :D

Good minutes from DA-SS-AW who all helped out when needed! WF is the man......even though DR had his usaul game WF hit the daggers when needed! Good game by all really.....E'ville is better than I thought they would be! :-o

Anybody know the status of Jeremy Crouch after the game? He seemed to be injured, but I wasn't sure if they gave an update on him.

Interesting games for us coming-up. Two teams that are smarting from tough losses, especially Wichita State on their home court.

He must be OK as his injury was not even discussed on the post game show.

As I stated in a previous thread, Webster is a monster. Geez, he???‚¬?„?s strong inside.

We gave up three back doors in the first half and another in the second. That???‚¬?„?s a Merfeld trademark and we should be ready for it.

We turned the ball over twice on grade school travels to start the game. No excuse for that. After that though we really cut down on the turnovers.

Great balance with 6 in double figures. Just as soon as I saw our starting lineup I knew Sam was going to get a lot of minutes. No baskets for Sam, but he really contributed.

Note to Andrew Warren. Get your confidence back. He hesitated to take a 3 pointer and banged it hard off the front of the rim. That???‚¬?„?s a sure sign of a lack of confidence. Later somebody drove and kicked it out to Drew and he passed on a wide open look. Drew, do not hesitate, take it.

Note to Dave Snell. On the post game show he talked to Coach about the balance and said its been forever since we had 6 in double figures. Heck we had 6 in double figures this year on November 21st against Florida A & M.

On the subject of balance the Valley is going to be really tough this year. I think 5 losses wins the regular season title.

I was just thinking how well Daniel Ruffin played tonight. I didn't remember any turnovers, and indeed, after checking, Ruffin did not have a single turnover in 33 minutes of play. Considering how much he handles the ball, and the pace at which he plays, that's terrific. Ruff also had 4 steals, and 21 points on 5-8 from 3-point.

I gave Ruf and WF CO-MVPs tonite but think Ruf should get it after further review. (not that it matters) but as big as those shots were that WF made DR just did it all. Defense, ball control, BIG shots and assists. He looks like he's back in his early season form.

His late game defense was a thing of beauty....

If there is anyone who doesn't think Bradley played a GREAT game last night, then explain this....

Evansville gets 3 guys who seem to be able to score at will, and hit 20 points,
Evansville shoots 50% in the first half and BU is lucky to go to the lockerroom with a tie, and then they come out and shoot 62% in the 2nd half.

They out rebounded Bradley and virtually lived on the FT line.
The Aces also got every one of our interior defenders in foul trouble.

So how do they NOT win this game???

Answer-- BU played a better game, a really great game and Jim Les did a masterful job of coaching and sparing his guys with the fouls.

I have a hard time believing that. I was there also. I was talking to my buddy about how many empty seats there were. Anyone else notice this?

Seats that are already sold are counted, not actual butts in the seat. This is how it's always been done. During Christmas break there are always people who are out of town and their seats are unoccupied, but the lower bowl had almost NO empty seats.

He seemed to knock knees in the final minute and went to the bench. He limped to the lockerroom so I don't think they would have let him walk on that knee if it were seriously injured.

As I stated in a previous thread, Webster is a monster. Geez, he???‚¬?„?s strong inside.

And Jim Les did a tremendous job planting the seed early about Webster's tendencies to hook the defender and ram hard, yet never get called for a foul.

Later in the game, two calls, one "hooking" the defender, and one shoulder down-charging on Webster, turned the whole game. Again, if anyone doesn't think JL did a great job even just working the refs to finally get the call we needed, then please look again.

Note to Dave Snell. On the post game show he talked to Coach about the balance and said its been forever since we had 6 in double figures. Heck we had 6 in double figures this year on November 21st against Florida A & M.

Of course Jim didn't have stats with him, but I'll bet he wasn't thinking about cushy cupcake non-conference foes.
I'd like to know when we last did it in the conference season.

Carver holds 11,400...that would mean 1200 mt seats. Both high end zones are usually mt. I'm guessing thats about 1000-1200 right there.

I would say 10k was real close...

From Reynolds article:

"Jeremy Crouch limped to the bench with 1:40 remaining and did not return. Les said Crouch felt a twinge and was having trouble running, but didn't know the extent of the injury."

Would that be an IT Band?
