Other Kingwood Classic AAU Notes

I posted some comments on Matt Roth on the AAU Matt Roth thread so I won't repeat them here. I thought I would mention a few other things I saw at the event. Most of these are comments on players I think Bradley is or has recruited.

Scott Suggs-St. Louis Eagles-I was really impressed with Suggs. Good quickness, good outside shot, not a real ball hog. BU coaches were at the one game of his I watched so they are still working on him or someone else on the team.

Matt Humphries-Mean Streets-He also looks good on a pretty good team. Decent size good shot, but I think he is probably aiming higher-No BU coaches at the one game of his I watched but that was Fri night and many college coaches did not show until Sat.

LA Pomlee-Martin Bros AAU-You can tell he was unable to play until recently. His conditioning did not seem to be outstanding. He looked better in the first game of his I watched than the second. The downside is that his shot needs a lot of work. He is a lefty so that always looks awkward to me and his free throws looked really poor. However, he looks reasonably strong, very agile, can run the floor.

Tyler Storm-Martin Bros-He looks strong and can run the floor. However, I have to admit I was not very impressed. Not a great outside shot. I'm not sure I see so much upside on him.

As a side note I was expecting Martin Bros to be pretty strong. I watched them twice and they lost both of their first two games-I was not impressed. BU coaches were at both Martin Bros games.

Dwight Buycks-M33M Magic-I nearly did not find him because he was not playing with the Compton Magic Team from CA-which is where I thought he would be playing. M33M Magic is from TN but in AAU basketball I am not sure that matters. He was playing point and looked quick and distributed the ball well. He did not take many shots-and a few were forced. He did not take any long range jumpers and I thought he had a few opportunities. I should mention that everyone was at the game I watched Coach K, Donovan, etc, etc. I don't think they were there to see Dwight but they were there.

I did not see him but I note that Wesley Witherspoon (3 stars, 114 ranked in the class by Rivals) from GA also listed us as one of the programs pursuing him.

I thought both Lewis Jackson and Tyler Zeller looked really good although I don't think we are recruiting either at this point.

The event was great. It was pretty entertaining to see all the coaches (and I mean all the coaches-Coach K, Donovan, Weber, Williams etc). I saw most Valley Coaches-Altmann, Lowrey, the UNI coach. I even saw Porter Moser walking around-maybe talking to the various coaches about a new job ??

The HQ of the event is a Houston High School with a couple of other schools right across the street. They have 7 gyms within about 1/3 of a mile so you can get from one gym to another pretty easily-each game about 60 mins. The only bummer is that they don't have rosters for the general public-the coaches have books from the event but for the rest of us you really need to know what kids look like (or borrow a look at others books).

Eric and Kyle were both there and generally split up and looked at different kids. They were at most of the games I attended but they obviously saw a bunch of others as well.

Sorry I ran on a bit...

Houston....you are an awesome recruiting source!!
We should sell your posts to the people on the recruiting service who pay the big bucks to Dave Telep, Van Coleman, and Bob Gibbons!
Thanks.....and have you thought of applying for that open spot on the BU coaching staff?

Nothing to be sorry about...thanks for the report.

This is what makes Bradleyfans so different than any other fan board, that guys do their own reporting as if all us Braves followers should each do our part to help keep others informed and pass on any info available.
Nice job, and I really enjoyed the thoroughness of your report HoustonBrave

Amen! Some of the other boards sometimes get only a post added a day. And, many of their posts are immature and obscene.

This is by far the best board I've seen for quality and quantity of posts, as well as ease of use.

I can only wish that my forum, which is filled with mostly high school and immature middle school kids at the moment, will one day have people post great info like this.
I appreciate the report!
