I won 300 bucks at a local casino (Elgin) last week! But I learned my lesson several years ago, you can't win over the long run in a casino - the odds are greatly in their favor - the 'key' is knowing when to quit and go home. I only go once a month now and it's not all for the gambling but the personal interactions/being with other people/like going to a game. When the Braves went 32-3 with Hersey, that would have been the time to make big money. The Braves beat the point spread every game and weren't picked to win many of the road games. I've told a friend of mine several times, all you would have had to do is do a four game let it run progressive bet of $1,000, next $2,000, $4,000, $8,000. Then cut back and start over. $1,000 at risk and a total of $16,000 after the fourth game. Could have made tens of thousands of dollars that year just following and betting on one team. Those chances don't come around very often. The State of Illinois, which allows gambling for the State's gain and our loss, is not helping the people by not letting us diversify our bets and not letting us have legal sports betting. I'd rather put $100 on two baseball, football or basketball games than go play blackjack with $200. JMO.
