Ot: 9-11-01

It's a shame that a couple posts had comments that they didn't learn anything that terrible day. Even old timers, like myself, learned that there are people out there that hate the USA and our successes and learned how much greater this country can be when we all come together like we did after 9-11.

Certainly agree with this. Could never have imagined the country being so divided after that. The price of bad leadership is compounded during historic times.

I was a newbee at a big law firm. (Ex-) wife called and said some ***** pilot hit the WTC. Then a friend called and said a second plane hit. We were talking and then he went silent for about a minute. I kept saying, "Are you there? What's going on? Are you there?" He didn't speak for what seemed like forever but I could hear him fidgeting around with the phone. Then he muttered in a crying voice, "It went down. The whole g/d building just collapsed."

Then a call on the other line . . . my wife hysterical because our brother-in-law worked a block away from the WTC.

The whole thing was so surreal.

As I was trying to digest what had happened, a high-ranking partner came into my office. "I need you to research this issue for me. Need the answer by noon. Get on it." I asked, "Have you heard what's happenend?" He said yeah, so what? "Get ON it. NOW."

Still my least favorite human being of all time. I left that firm about 6 months later. That conversation was the reason.

The original thread and post number 7 are the ones I'm referrng to.

I think you are taking their posts out on context. If I read them correctly they were referring to regular school work (math, spelling etc..) not about life.

Thanks for clarifying that, SFP.

I'd have to have been a fool to not learn anything that day about Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, terrorism or hatred toward America. I thought it was clear in my post and ph's that we were referring to not learning anything like we would on a normal school day. That day was anything but normal.
