Once a Brave - Chuck Westendorf

Westy is maybe better known for his contributions as coach on both the great Manual teams that won 4 straight state championships
and also the Central team that won two straight........but he's a one time Braves basketball player from the 60's...
I just heard Chuck is ill and in a Chicago hospital - although I understand there's nothing life threatening..
Best wishes to Chuck who, believe it or not, is still coaching! He is currently a volunteer coach, and I wish him God bless & a speedy recovery..

He has coached my son at a couple camps. I hope he is doing well. Not sure what is wrong, but get well soon.

I worked at a few basketball camps with Westy in the late 1990's. He is a great person and one of the best teachers of the game I have ever encountered. In fact, thanks to Westy's ribbing, I ended up playing Bayo Akinkunle 1-on-1 (first to 3 baskets won) in front of 200 kids. After getting blocked twice, then dunked on twice, I condeded.

Hopefully he will be back up and at em very soon.
