Ole Miss Head Coach Arrested

I'm curious....what was he doing in downtown Cincy at 1AM...?
If his players are expected to be in their rooms wouldn't it be wise for him to be there, too?

550 Walnut in Cincy is the address of the Cincinnati Arts Association. That's 7 blocks from the arena they are playing in tonight...and surely the only thing open at that hour would be the bars......nawwww, couldn't be....

Mississippi Head Coach Andy Kennedy was arrested in Cincinnati for using racial slurs and punching a cab driver.
Kennedy was interim coach at Cincinnati after the Bob Huggins firing, but has been coach at Ole Miss since 2006.

Just hard to believe that anyone at Ole Miss would use racial slurs...

Sounds like a chip off the old block...

At least he wasn't driving himself

Kennedy will coach the Ole Miss team tonight despite the arrest made last night on assault charges.

Now it is being confirmed - just as I had suspected - that Kennedy was drinking in the "Lodge Bar" until 1:30AM
(along with several members of his "staff" - one of whom was named, an assistant who is also charged with disorderly conduct.
and he has already hired a noted local Cincinnati lawyer to defend himself.
The assistant, Bill Armstrong was "“intoxicated and ejected” from the Lodge Bar in downtown Cincinnati."
Here in Peoria when there was an assault charge, the local gurus and experts demanded that the player be suspended and not play until the issue was resolved.
Shouldn't the locals also be interested in the same justice in Cincy...where are their cries for justice in this case?:roll::roll::roll:

These coaches should both be placed on paid suspension, investigated by the university, and FIRED if these allegations are proven accurate. NO QUESTIONS ASKED! :(

I am not commenting on what should or will be done...but i did hear a blurb on espn radio today... in a sportscenter update, it appears that the attorney is arguing that there is no way the coach couch have punched the cab driver because he was sitting in the passenger seat, and it is the cab drivers left side of his face that was bruised/cut/whatever it is... obviously, it would normally be the right side of his face that should show the effects of an assault... this will be an interesting one to follow...

I heard that same story on ESPN TV, but if the driver was facing the passenger, and the passenger struck with his right hand, it would account for an injury to the left side of his face.

He is an adult. I have no problem with him being out at 1AM. Not justifying his actions though.

Very true... alot of variable and factors in a situation like that...

Agree 100%... I am sure he not the only coach in American at a local watering hole that late...

Amen. If a player was accused of this in Peoria and a big game was coming up, see ya, no questions asked.

I don't intend to police him, as he is an adult...but I am saying the story does not add up and there appear to be differing versions of what happened.

On ESPN, it was said that Kennedy was with his assistants "catching a late dinner".
Hmmm...OK....now when was the last time I went into downtown anywhere to a bar at 1:45AM just to catch a late dinner when my and my entire team's hotel is across the river in a different city & state?

didn't someone say "nothing good happens in bars after 1AM"?
.....why yes, it was one of the top college basketball coaches in the nation....

oddly, almost identical quotes come from numerous college basketball sources...

I would feel, and demand, the same if this was Jim Les instead of Kennedy. Why do I think this is going to be swept under the rug? :(

the Cincy AD is also heard saying to the accuser...
"you're a lying motherf****"

That's not the CINCY AD. It's the Ole Miss Director of basketball operations

Gotta love this line:

???You think we??™ve never arrested somebody that??™s made national media? ??¦ We deal with the Bengals all the time,??? said the officer.
:D

This type of incident is exactly why I'm a fan of mid-major basketball! You rarely see arrogance and attitude like this. Many major conference coaches have a sense of entitlement and immunity. There seems to be higher standards and more accountability for mid-major coaches.

This kind of thing makes me so disgusted.....not the fact that he was out late partying, but his behavior afterwards.

I have no choice now, but to leave work early and drink a Heineken to ponder the moral state of college basketball today.

Mississippi's Kennedy hopes to avoid assault trial

Mississippi's Kennedy hopes to avoid assault trial

"Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy hopes to have his assault case settled on Monday instead of facing an assault trial in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Even if the criminal case is settled in a plea bargain, Kennedy is embroiled in lawsuits over his arrest in December on a misdemeanor assault charge. A cab driver claimed that Kennedy punched him and called him a terrorist when the team was in town for a game."
