BU Basketball news is slow right now - and I think we have a lot of good places to eat in Central IL, but...
How many great places to eat can you name that don't exist around here any more?
I'll start and name a few, some of which date way back.....
- Hunt's at the bottom of the hill by Bradley Park, and, of course, Big John's
- Jumer's (formerly Kramer's) on Western, Stephanie on Knoxville & 309 Junction City- all were pricey, fine dining, most of us prob didn't go often.
- and more recently Shakey's Pizza, Damon's on the riverfront, & Joe's Crab Shack were all kind of unique places that I loved.
- Even Quiznos (closest one is Springfield) & KFC (closest is Galesburg) are places I liked that have disappeared here & I miss them. I even once drove all the way to Galesburg just to pick up a couple buckets of KFC.
Anyone think of others? (and please don't bring up the Skewer Inn)
Does anyone miss The Fieldhouse restaurant that was near campus? Early on they hosted a few Bradley events such as the "Voice of the Braves".
I had always hoped they'd develop some kind of unique atmosphere that set them apart, but they never did.
The place was quite plain, food rather forgettable and just not enough Bradley memorabilia as you'd think a place named after The Fieldhouse should have.
I'm actually surprised it lasted as long as it did.
