OKC Thunder and Leons

Just curious if the OKC Thunder were to go on and win the NBA championship will the team that Leons plays on get championship rings as well. My opinion only, but I would think so since Leons team he plays on is part of the organization. Perhaps not just wondering what the protocol is.

Usually, players who only played on the G-League team, and not on the NBA team, would not get a Championship ring.
However, though Malevy spent most of the season with the OKC Blue of the G-League, he did play 6 games for the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder back in November. So I think there is a good chance he could be awarded a ring. Usually the owners of top level pro teams give the regular roster players and coaches a high quality ring (lots more diamonds, etc.). But they also have lesser quality versions that appear identical, that go to the part-time players, and many of the support personnel of the team.

Great to know that maybe Leons will get a ring since he played in games for OKC this year. Would that not be great if this were to happen. Am sure Wardle will give a call of congratulations. Also a smile from ear to ear as he brought him into the program. Could be used as a recruiting pitch for future players that Wardle can help develop them into better players. What a feather in the hat that would be for the basketball program. If OKC can win it all, are there any former BU players that have ever won a championship for the team they played for.

I though David Thirdkill did with the Celtics.
Yes, David Thirdkill won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 1986. That team featured Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Dennis Johnson, Bill Walton, Danny Ainge, and Robert Parrish, in addition to Thirdkill.

Steve Kuberski, who only played one year at Bradley (1968-69) after transferring from Illinois because of their "Slush Fund Scandal" won 2 NBA championships with the Boston Celtics in 1974 and in 1976. Steve was a terrific player out of Moline High School. He went to Illinois and was involved in a scandal when it became known that he and other athletes were receiving relatively small payments ($35 per month) from a "slush fund" that the university athletic department had set up. Steve left Illinois, transferred to Bradley, and played the 1968-69 season for Joe Stowell. He averaged 23.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg in his only season at Bradley. He was drafted by the Celtics in the 1969 NBA draft, and left Bradley after just one season.
Interestingly, after winning a championship with the 1973-74 Celtics, he was claimed by the New Orleans Jazz (later became the Utah Jazz) in the 1974 expansion draft. He bounced from the Jazz to the Milwaukee Bucks, then the Buffalo Braves (later became the LA Clippers), then was released in 1975. He rejoined the Boston Celtics and went on to win his second championship with the 1975-76 Celtics.

Here is a link to a website of a Boston Celtics fan, who, a few years ago, asked, "What the hell happened to....Steve Kuberski"-

Note the footnote citing that we supplied some information about Steve for his blog.

The OKC Thunder were heavy favorites to win Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers (-9.5 points), but the Pacers pulled off a stunning upset last night beating the Thunder 111-110. It was the only lead for the Pacers the entire game, when their star guard Tyrese Haliburton made a jumper with 0.3 seconds left to give them the win. Haliburton has become a star in his 5th NBA season.
He is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and attended Oshkosh North HS, graduating in 2018.
Bradley was one of the offers he received in high school, though he eventually committed to Iowa State.

2018 recruit- Tyrese Haliburton-

I don't know a lot of details - maybe you can find or add more...but
I saw a few reports from his agency, he is intensely working out with a few other NBA hopefuls, and after the NBA Draft (6/26)
he will hope to play for the OKC Summer League team which starts early July. Also between now and then, NBA team are bringing in players
for workouts in order to finalize their summer rosters.
