OK BU Fanatics, Show Me How BU Will Not Finish 6th in Valley

I don't know if we will ever see the +/- statistics for this game, but the team does keep +/- numbers.
Eddren's were very good.
Sam Singh's were terrible. Sam was on the floor for the entire 7 minute stretch when we were stuck on 50 points. Then he returned to the game with BU at 62, and we only score 3 more points the last 4 minutes. I don't know what the problem is with SS on the floor, but we just don't execute well on offense.

I noticed that too, but apparently we should be giving SS more minutes so we can have two BIGS on the floor at the same time just for the sake of it, while taking minutes away one of our young guards.

Could it be that he's slow. Can't jump. Can't shoot. And has zero offensive post moves? Painful to say because he's such a great guy and gives his all.

Actually, every one of the coaches will tell you that among the big men, Sam Singh is consistently the one guy who is always in the right spot at the right time, sets the best picks, and he knows the offense better than anyone. So I don't know that his speed or jumping ability is the reason for the scoreless streaks.

The game is not his fault, and I'm sure that most of the reason he was on the floor at the end was Will's lack of a FT %, but based on what I saw, Sam was in the exact right spot to get the rebound on Taylor's missed shot...

Will's FT % in this game was better than SM's, AW's, and SS's. The game is not any one player's fault, but SS is not free of blame here. In his 15 minutes, he had 1 point (coming on his 50% from the FT line), no shot attempts, 3 rebounds, and 2 turnovers. Those seem to be the same numbers that have people wanting EM to sit on the bench.

MY thoughts are:

Bad loss- I agree that Loyola is nowhere as good as their RPI ranking currently
We get outhustled way too often....
We shoot horribly from FT line

And the thing I have noticed that I think makes a big difference- while we have many good players- we have no great players who step up consistently when we need a bucket or a play...

Scoring droughts of 3 plus minutes will kill teams that don't have go-to great players... and we had two strectches of 7 minutes and 3 minutes- Can't afford that, as our margin for error is slim...

like there are 7 MVC teams doing any better??

according to their overall records, there are!!!! After a night to digest, a couple things standout:
1)this team lacks leadership. there isn't a true go-to guy when things get tight.
2)this team is woeful underneath. 39-25 on boards???Again???? This has been a staple of the Les era...poor rebounding
3)We continue to be live by 3 , die by 3. we only lead at half due to 8 made 3's, the rest of our post was absent
4)More questionable substitutions. Explain why Milos sits after igniting for 11 quick points?
5)This team lacks fire and killer instinct. Hyperbole? No. How do you come in and fall behind to start the game when you just got embarrassed 9 days ago? And then, when you're up double digits(again!!!!), you don't put the foot on the throat. They have 12 days before a very important road game at a place where most other valley opponents will win this season. If you want to stay out of Thursday, you better start preparing to start 2-0 in conf. The Iowa St game means nothing now anyway, unless you are counting on CBI hopes!!

So...what is your prediction right now as to where BU will finish in the Valley? You are the king of blasting other people's predictions without ever making one of your own...Just curious.
I think we will probably finish 5th or 6th in the conference...how about you?

ER3, I probably make more predictions that everyone else put together, so I have no idea what you're looking at...
and I think we are still capable of beating anyone in the Valley if we play as we all know we are capable of playing, make FTs, and show more consistency.
I think we are who we thought we were, and obviously some people don't...

The FT shooting mystifies me to a degree because I thought we shot well from the ft line earlier in the season.

As for your post on the scoring droughts, check the substitution patterns and you will see the reasons for the scoring droughts! We take AW out of the game for a blow around the 9 minute mark in the second half which I think
is fine. But we have a media timeout and refuse to put AW back in the game after the timeout. AW is in fine shape and should have been placed in the lineup after the timeout. The reason AW gets back in the game after the timeout was that EM committed a foul which got EM in deeper foul trouble.

Sure BU is capable of beating anyone they play in the Valley. Trouble is, right now they sure aren't playing like they will be able to beat anyone in the Valley...poor d, poor ft shooting, poor rebounding, poor execution...Surely not a good receipe to win on the road in the Valley..

Did the "we" in your quote above, post earlier that BU was going to finish in the top 1-2 in the Valley and contend for the MVC title, or, the "we" who thought the pollsters predictions of BU finishing 6th in the Valley were correct? ;);)

I do not think you answered his question. Where do you see us finishing in the Valley right now? I, too, believe we will slug it out for the 5-6 seed. And you?

I think better.....right now I do not see more than 2 or 3 teams in the Valley playing any better than we are..

it is indeed, so if there's ever a year for our guys to rally and play well we could do very well in the league

Current Valley predictions:

1-8) who cares
9) Bradley 2-16
10) Illinois St 0-18

Seriously, though, I can't see anyone but UNI breaking away from the pack this year. Does any other team truly worry you? I'm not scared of this BU team against any other Valley team.

This probabaly means we're in the middle of a 9-9 or 10-8 logjam in the middle of the conference, however.
