Not sure if this has been posted - Wilkins

I am sure he knows that his potential to play right away is higher here then in the Big 12, B10, or Big East..and suspect he really doesn't want to get splinters all next year waiting his turn...

I think ideally the thought that it would be "easier" to get playing time in the MVC over a BCS school--but I'm not sure here.

Bradley is better than Indiana right now, I'm confident saying that. Iowa State is a bit better than the Braves, but not a lot. So I can't see how playing time at BU is any more of a sure thing then those two programs that are currently BCS stature by name/conference affiliation only.

I can't believe anyone wouldn't want JW at Bradley....If he doesn't come so be it and we move on......

It will be hard to beat out BCS type programs, but we did for JP & DSE......
.

I know JP had some interest early T but I didn't know by the time signing day came around....and which BCS was on DSE...I hadn't heard....not that it makes a difference really....they both will have good careers at BU>

For what it's worth, I don't think this is true at all.

Why? You are close to this program, so what gives you the opinion that my opinion that we are not anything more then a fall back option is not correct?

His behavior regarding Bradley certainly indicates we are a fall back option. If we were not, he would not be inviting opportunities to go to visit Providence, Iowa State, Indiana or whoever.

He would simply indicate I am committed to Bradley and will sign in April.

not sure if it means anything...

..odd that those 3 schools somewhat have ties to recent BU,

either former MVC coaches or the whole Roth ordeal (are we trying to say, if we cannot get JW, at least "trade" for Roth?)....

That was one game. Bradley beat Illinois but Bradley isn't better than Illinois. Loyola beat Bradley but Loyola isn't better than Bradley.

Iowa State is better than Bradley--but not by much. I will stand by that.

Iowa State is not better the Bradley. I stand by that. They won a game and beat us pretty good but their program is not better, bigger because of conference affilation but not better. Same goes for Nebraska and Creighton... Nebraska might be bigger but they are not better.

Id take my chances pretty much any night with Iowa State. Rumor though here in Houston is Billy "the kid" Gilespie is very interested in Iowa State and they are also interested. He is also getting love from U of Houston and some at Texas Tech think he would be perfect for them.

Replacing party boy Larry with party boy Billy that could be very interesting.

There are more rumors bout Gilespie then there are girls about Tiger! Every decent opening out there and I've heard his name.

Even recruits who say "I am committed to (fill in the team) and will sign on (insert date)" can change their mind on a dime. These are young men and they will flip flop back and forth because they have so many choices. He may have zero interest in Bradley or is still seriously considering Bradley. Da Coach is right, no where does it say that he has zero interest in Bradley. In fact, these recruiting sites are going to juice up anything a recruit says for that given school. I wouldn't worry at all about what a recruit says. He has stuck with us this long.....so have a little faith. I wouldn't really shrug at any of this. It would be known by now if Bradley was out of consideration. There really isn't any reason to keep us around.

Have you heard the rumor of Turgeon to Oregon, and Gilespie to A&M? Turgeon apparently has close family ties to that part of the country. That one is very juicy.

I would take my chance any night playing Bradley again. ISU is struggling mightily in the Big 12 no doubt, but the Big 12 is the #1 conference in the country and ISU is not that great. But if we played in the MVC, I feel very confident that we could battle for a top 3 spot. We rolled Drake at Drake. We rolled Bradley at Ames. We lead UNI in Ames for 39 minutes before falling in the last minute. I have feel confident that this year, ISU would win 7 of 10 against the Braves. Not true last year and not true next year, but this year, I have think that is true even with our struggles as of late.

As per the Gillispie thing, ISU has no money. We cannot afford to buy out five years of McDermott's contract and hire a new coach. Not with across the board budget cuts in Iowa and ISU having no cash reserves due to having to buy out Morgan and before that Eustachy. I just don't think you will see any change in Ames.

Oregon will be getting new coach and money will not be a deterrent. Ernie Kent will not be moving into the new digs they just built. Here is a list a read the other day. Also throw in Mark Few!

??? Mark Turgeon, Texas A&M. No doubt the Ducks will take the temperature of Turgeon, who worked under Jerry Green in Eugene in the '90s. But he signed for $1.2 million a year with A&M in '07 and, ranked No. 22 with a 19-7 record, could be hard to pry loose.
??? Scott Drew, Baylor. How about another Big 12 coach? Although he signed a 10-year deal after the 2008 season, who makes Baylor (20-6) his last stop? Drew recruits with an edge and was sought unsuccessfully last spring by Memphis.
??? Steve Alford, New Mexico. The Lobos (25-3) are 10th-ranked and Alford makes about a million a year.
??? Ben Jacobson, Northern Iowa. Jacobson, 39, is one of the mid-major coaches du jour, with a 24-3 record and what should be a second straight NCAA-tournament team.
??? Gregg Marshall, Wichita State. The Shockers pulled him away from Winthrop, where he had big success, and now in his third year, he has his team 22-7.
??? Randy Bennett, Saint Mary's. Steak without the sizzle, Bennett has done an excellent job chasing Gonzaga in the WCC. Good coach, good guy who has somehow eluded the clutches of bigger programs.

... but the Big 12 is the #1 conference in the country...

I prefer to view Conference RPI Rankings based on Non-Conference games. I prefer to believe a conference game is like a team playing itself.

So based on Non-Conference games, the #1 Conference is The Big BEast.

:-P ;)

You must not remember that we did beat you the past 2 times and then you had to take a year off from playing us. So I wouldn't be bragging too much and the Big East is possibly looking at 8-9 bids and the Big 12 is possibly looking at 5-6.

To each their own, my simple point remains that while ISU has struggled mightily in the conference it does not mean we are bad relative to a MVC team that finished about third (did not look up Bradley's exact finish). In some years, when the MVC has been stronger, a third place MVC team would be equal to a fifth (no I am not saying ISU finished fifth) place Big 12 team, but not this year.

And you must not have noticed where I said this year, ISU would win 7 of 10 and that I specifically said that would not have been the case last year nor do I believe it will be the case next year. My response was to the person that said Bradley is better right now.

The Big 12 has seven teams (out of 12) in the top 31 in the RPI according to Real Time RPI. The Big East has five schools in the top 35 in the RPI (out of 16) and eight with a winning conference record and their ninth school is at 61 today. You really think that the Big East will get two more in than the Big 12 given those numbers? Would you like to make a wager?

And in 2006, when the MVC was having one of it's strongest years.... the 5th best team defeated the #1 team from the B12. ;)
