Northwestern now recruiting Matt Roth

I would think Jim Les could make a case for Bradley against Northwestern. If Roth was interested in playing in the NCAA tournament (it did wonders for POB's career), he would not likely get that chance at Northwestern.

Northwestern is also interested in Bradley recruits Tyler Storm and Joseph Bertrand.

The artricle also has some nice words for Porter Moser and his "power staff".

Unless Matt Roth thinks he could, by himself, break 70 years of futility. Northwestern is the only school in a BCS conference that has NEVER, I repeat NEVER received a bid to the NCAA nor appeared in an NCAA tournament.
Twice, the NCAA Finals were held on the campus of Northwestern, in the inaugural year of 1939, then again at the newly built Welsh-Ryan Arena in 1956, but that's as close as Northwestern has ever gotten.

I will admit I have never seen Matt Roth play but do you guys think he has a chance of playing basketball professionally? I would think that if he had that type of potential he would be recruited by more "BCS type" programs.

I can't imagine he would consider playing baskeball at Northwestern, that's basketball hell. I know it's a great academic school but Matt obviously has talent and potential, and taking that to a school that has been nothing but consistently bad in basketball would boggle my mind.

Edit - I guess they were considered mediocre back in the Evan Eschmeyer days of the mid 90's, but BU would be a GREAT place for him, for both academics and hoops.

Northwestern looked to possibly be on it's way to some good times after landing Peoria-area stars Nick Knapp and Matt Moran about 10 years ago. Boy did that fall apart fast - Knapp collapsed the summer before his freshman year and was found to have a serious heart condition, and had his scholarship pulled. Moran was the leading scorer and rebounder for the 'Cats, and quit the team just 10 games into his freshman year. He then went on to BU and battled foot injuries until ultimately giving up basketball (but still graduating from BU). I don't know what it is about the north side of Chicago, but Northwestern basketball is about as cursed as the Chicago Cubs.

Northwestern is a great school academically and one that anyone would be proud to have attended. I don't know if I would want to be on a basketball team for four years that is the punching bag of of the B10 though. At least, not many people come out to see the home or away games to witness the bloodshed.

Great academic school.

That could be a problem for BU. Not saying BU isn't a great school, but what does he want to major in? Is he looking at making bball a career or....

Hey, BU has the 2nd best IE department in the nation for non-PhD programs... Sorry saw a plug for my department, can't pass that up.

I actually chose Bradley over Northwestern, as well as many other schools based on academics, so were not so bad.
