NIT results

Here is a good explanation of why the Power Conference teams do not want to schedule mid-major teams - https://x.com/_ThomasAshworth/status/1902162516886671706

Jacksonville State of the CUSA has a NET 122.
They are in the NIT because they finished tied for 2nd in the CUSA
Last night they easily beat ACC member Georgia Tech on Georgia Tech's home court 81-64
Notice that by the end of the game, nearly every Georgia Tech fan had already left the arena, and the almost all the few remaining spectators were just the Jacksonville State fans. - https://x.com/_ThomasAshworth/status/1902162516886671706

So this is a good example of why schools like Georgia Tech and others from the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East refuse to play mid-majors, and why they will never choose to play them at home.
This year's NIT has only 4 teams out of 32 that are from the Power Conferences- SMU, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech and Stanford. the fewest in history.
These are the schools that reportedly declined an invitation to play in the NIT (many schools declined before the invitations even went out).
30 of the 36 (and there may have been others) were from the Power Conferences. They don't want to have to face mid-majors and risk losing.

Fyi
the Loyola NIT game vs San Francisco STARTS AT 6:30pm Central on ESPN2 and ESPN+

the Illini are on CBS but getting thumped by UK, with a lot of turnovers

and the ISU game in the CBI vs Presbyterian starts at 7pm but ONLY on FloHoops subscription streaming service so nobody will be watching- it’s a terrible deal.
$20 minimum (monthly) or $108/yr

Lol what's your definition of thumped?

Illinois has a tendency to look really sloppy and careless for stretches, but then can look really good at other times. I think they try to play too fast, and their guards are not always making good decisions.

I have to wonder if St.Louis is happy with their coaching selection.

Good question. At some point these D2 level coaches who find immediate D1 success by bringing their best players with them, will have to prove that they can recruit against D1 competition and succed without their legacy players.

Loyola wins, as San Francisco had three shots from right under the rim in the final 3 seconds but couldn’t convert til a split second after the buzzer went off

Yeah a 12 point deficit...5 at half, I've watched the whole game this far, it was never a thumping lol

Led only once when it was 5-4. Trailed by as many as 16 in second half, chipped away and got within 6 with under 2 to play only for Kentucky to push it back to 12 pretty quick. So yea.... not a thumping. Was nothing like the colossal smackdown they got last year vs UConn.

I'm not sure why there is so much Illini hate on this board. A young team lost in the second round of the tournament. It was a frustrating loss, but still was a good season.

Oh - I'm sorry. I must be confused - is this the BradleyFansAndIlliniFans Message board? If someone is looking for positivity for the O&B, imagine plenty can be found at THEIR message board.
