Next Year's Starting 5

1. SM/DSE
2. DD/DSE
3. AW
4. TB
5. Dwight Howard

I think this lineup will bring the most speed and versatility to our guard spots, while still allowing us to pound the ball inside to our 5.

I agree with your lineup, except the #5 will not be named Dwight Howard.
Will Egolf will probably be in the starting lineup, but I am confident there will be another big man in the rotation. :D

Lol I was looking at this reading it seriously then came to Dwight Howard and I got a good laugh out of it, I only wish that was possible.

I think we should start 3 guards like you have, because DD and AW at 6'3 and 6'5 are tall enough to be a good 2 and 3, plus it gives us good outside shooting and a guy in DD to guard the best guard on the other team. Plus with 5 guards that can play it allows more time for all of them. TB doesn't handle the ball or shoot 3's well enough to be a starting 3 right now to me, I really like his driving game and I think he would be an excellent 6 man because I'd like to get bigger at the 4. He would still get starter minutes though and be a huge spark plug/slasher off the bench.

So at this point (long way from knowing who or what we will have or who will improve):

Without JW (SM,DD,AW,JP,WE) Man tough to get everyone in! Maybe RS Milos?

SM/DSE/EM
DD/JE/DSE
AW/TB/MK
JP/TB/WE
WE/Big 5 man/AT

With JW (SM, DD, AW, JW, WE)

SM/DSE/EM
DD/JE/DSE
AW/TB/MK
JW/TB/JP
WE/Big 5 man/AT

EDIT: This is all just my meaningless opinion. Like I have said before I love making out potential lineups as a fan for fun but I am in no position to know anything other than what I see on the court and hear, and will trust what JL does.

Does Shaq have any college eligibility left?

What about starting bigger and spreading out minutes to keep players fresh?

SM -1
AW - 2
TB - 3
WE - 4
JP - 5 (or AT if he wns the starting role)

Second Team
EM or DSE -1
DD or DSE or JE - 2
MK - 3 or 4
AT - 5 (or JP if AT wins the starting role)

Doesn't this address concerns about interior defense, rebounding, and depth?
It also would support a tough zone defense..

BU can always go smaller with a three guard rotation as a change of pace if more offense needed or more full court man to man pressure needed and sitting either WE or JP

Disclaimer: This in not intended to second guess the coaching staff at BU since they will pick whomever they think will win. This is my opinion only and does not represent the opinions of anyone else on the Forum or Bradley University. It is purely for entertainment value only. Any similarity to any other starting line up opinions is strictly a coincidence.

My lawyer advised me to add this disclaimer

These are two serious line-ups, one which I really would like to see, and one which I fear I will see too much of.

Ideal (In My Humble Opinion)
1. SM
2. DSE/DD
3. TB/AW
4. JP/TB
5. WE/sticks/whatever big man we land

As Much TB As possible

Fear
1. SM
2. DD
3. DSE
4. AW
5. TB/WE/sticks?etc...

the ol' 4 guard failure

Da_Coach you I want a little more information about the other big. I agree if we can put WE at the 4 and TB at the 3 forget about if we can sign JW or not. He would be a big bonus but not necessary to make a rune next year at the Valley title.

EVERYTHING is necessary. Lets be greedy and want it all! :)

Right now what I'm hoping for is that JW comes and is what he's rumored to be... That means I see it like this:

1 - SM/DSE
2 - AW/DD
3 - JW/MK
4 - TB/AT
5 - WE/JP

Need 80 minutes out of our post players... Whether TB or JW would play the "4" or the "3" in such a lineup doesn't overly concern me, but let's say we get 30 minutes out of TB, 25 minutes of WE, 15 minutes of JP, and 10 minutes out of AT... That gets us to that 80 minutes.

Maniscalco
DSE
Warren
Wilkins
Egolf

This will be Les' signature year as he runs a 4 guard offense with his most athletic lineup ever. :)

It doesn't matter who's starting. Unless we can get true quality big men (that means more than one) we won't compete for titles in this league, plain and simple. I know we're looking for some, but that always seems to be the case. Unfortunately it's a results-driven business.

No way Warren doesn't start next year as our only 3 point specialist....

SM/DSE/EM/DD
AW/DD/DSE
TB/JW/DD/MK
JW/TB/MK/WE
WE/AT or other big

That's in order of minutes per position. I think the starting lineup is nice with a 5-11, 6-5, 6-7, 6-9, 6-9 lineup....ehh we'll see

I don't know if my stomach can take another year of playing an undersized lineup with players having to play out-of-position,

What we have:
1 - EM 5'11"
1 - SM 6'0"
1/2 - DSE 6'2"
2 - DD 6'3"
2 - JE 6'4"
2/3 - AW 6'5"
3 - TB 6'6"
3/4 - MK 6'8"
4/5 - JP 6'8"
4/5 - WE 6'9"
5 - AT 6'10"

The starting lineup (with backups in paren) I would like to see start, given the players we have today, are:
1: SM (DSE)
2: AW (DD, DSE, JE)
3: TB (JE, AW, MK)
4: WE (JP, MK)
5: AT (WE, JP)

Or put another way:
Starters: SM, AW, TB, WE, and AT
Key Bench: DSE, JE, DD, MK, and JP

Ten Players contributing. Now I could get excited about that.

It won't happen. I'm not optomistic that we will field any taller lineup next year than we put on the floor this year.

100% correct, we look so small compared to most of the other teams which is why we struggle to rebound and score inside and defend centers on the opposing team, like to know what the rebounding and scoring differential is from BU to the 4 higher teams in the Valley.

AT couldn't get on the floor at all and he's gonna start next year?? Keep dreaming, that's not happening.

One of the biggest disappointments this year is not seeing AT play much, especially after a solid game vs. EU when TB and WE were racking up the fouls. And then WE and SS not contributing much since then. I like those guys, but WE has been MIA for the past 10 games or so - not going hard to the glass, whereas AT was doing that (when I saw him at least).

Would love to see a bigger rotation. By that I mean that we actually play more than 7 or 8 guys. I just think that to play the type of offense JL likes, we need to get our guys more rest during the game.

I'd go with.....

SM
DD
AW
TB
WE

with
EM
DSE
JE
JP
coming in and giving 3-5 mins each half for sure and then filling in for foul troubles in other places.

other combo that we could go to and switch it up offensively would be.....
DSE @point
SM @ the 2
AW @ the 3
WE
JP
This lineup could give us some size down low for D and than the shooters and athleticism on offense to spread out the other team. I would love to really see WE take more shots from the top of the key and pull out the opposing center.

AT's stat lines in conference games

@ WSU 1-1 FG, 2-2 FT, 1 defensive rebound, 12 min
vs ISU Blue 0's across the board in 3 min
@MSU 1 defensive rebound, 1 block, 6 min
vs MSU 0's in 1 min
@isu 1-1 FG, 1 offensive rebound, 3 min
@ Evansville 1-3 FG, 3 blocks, 2 fouls, 16 min

I believe we need 3 productive big men to be productive next year. Egolf counts as 1, hopefully Prosser as a second, and we need a third. I hope it can be AT. I think the coaching staff needs to take a close look and determine if that 3rd big is AT or if we need to get a juco that can come in right away or if there is a freshman who could come in and help right away. We might have the best returning guards and wing players in the Valley, but if we want to win anything we need production from our bigs.
