Next game- BU at Indiana State Tues. 2/16, 6 pm

Bradley's next game is Tuesday, Feb. 16, 6:05 pm at Indiana State.

Note that Jake Kelly, Dwayne Lathan, and Harry Marshall will all miss this game because they are out with injury.

If any team wanted to yell/use the injury excuse, ISU would be the one:!: But they sure have not and their coach deserves a lot of credit for keeping his ship upright:!: If this were BU some on here would ride this horse to death, crying that the BB Gods were against us and thinking of ways to commit suicide:rolleyes::-P JK:lol:
This should be a good game. One that BU should win:!::)
Go get them Braves:!:

Depends on how hard you look to call a discussion about a player's injury an excuse...sure we talked about the losses when our guys were injured, but I don't call that an excuse just because we discuss it...
Last season, Bradley lost two starters including their best player for essentially the FULL YEAR last year - and only a few times did anyone use it as an "excuse", and we still went on to win 20 games.

So far this year - Kelly has missed 14 games, Lathan 10, and Marshall 4..
so the entire total of their games missed thus far this season, still doesn't equal the number missed last year by JUST Andrew Warren and not counting Will Egolf...
Yet - like I say, BU still finished 4th, won over 20 games and presently Indiana State is 15-11, 7-8.....
so....if you say Indiana State "and their coach deserves a lot of credit for keeping his ship upright", then are you willing to also give Bradley and their coach "a lot of credit" for last year??

T, I give credit where its do:!: I am not just one sided, friend:!: I think before you open your mouth about me not willing to give credit to JL for what he has done with anything, not just injuries, you shold go back and read ALL my posts for proof in your statement, friend. I know you would find where I have time and time again have said , JL never once have used injuries as a excuse:!: Only the weak look for excuse's and if your feet fit those shoes, wear them friend:rolleyes::lol:

If we are going to mention Indiana State's injuries, don't forget Bradley also lost a valuable player and likely starter this season in Dodie Dunson. Dodie has now missed the last 23 games.

For Indiana State- Kelly has missed 14 games, Lathan 10, and Marshall 3 due to injury (he missed 1 earlier one due to suspension). They will get Lathan and Marshall back before the MVC tournament, while Bradley will not get DD back.

Is that new news on Lathan and Marshall? Earlier reports, and ones as recent as today's article by Dave Reynolds, indicated that they were likely out for the season. Indiana St might be a real tough out should they get Lathan and Marshall back. We might be getting them at the right time!

I am going by what Indiana State Coach Kevin McKenna was quoted in today's Terre Haute TribStar newspaper, and other reports I have heard.-

• Silver lining? McKenna said there’s no way either Marshall or Lathan will play tonight, but they might be getting closer to a return.

“I think they’re ahead of schedule [in recovery time],” he said Monday. “They’re both planning on getting fitted for some braces [for their various injured body parts]. They’re both anxious to get back, and they’re frustrated by not getting to help out.”

This sounds to me like they are not conceding that their injuries will keep them out for the rest of the year, and are planning for them to return.
Other sources tell me they are hoping to return for the MVC tournament games.

Gotcha. Since neither is a redshirt candidate, there's no reason not to try and bring them back. If Indiana St ended up as the #7 or #8 and had Lathan and Marshall back, they could make things real difficult for the #1 or #2 seed on Friday.

Anybody know of EM's progress? He played well in Terre Haute last year, helping the Braves win. We really need him to get some P.T. before the Valley tournament, where we'll need EM to give us some minutes.

Dodie is not "a likely starter" . he's a 6th man, still a nice piece we're missing but no where close to missing valley scoring leader Marshall or even Lathan for that matter. Let's compare apples to apples. All 5 of our staters have gone 13-12 to this point. a team missing 3 starters for many games is just a game behind us. McKenna gets the nod for keeping this together and if they don't play in, may get coach of the year and deservedly so.

I'm in full agreement. we need his minutes more than anything else right now. Someone besides DSE has to spell our guards. That's also why I think Milos should get a few minutes each of the next few games, especially if we solidify the matinee. Our profile has nothing but CBI written all over it unless we win the tourney, so let's make sure our best have enough rest and stay healthyif we can't move up or down in the short term. Gotta get this win tonight and that should really help solidify our position.

I agree but his minutes would have been significant or likely equal to a starters minutes. His injury hurt this team in the short term bigtime but also in regards to depth... I think.

I say that because if he does not get hurt does DSE play as much as he has? I seriously think DSE would have played much less essentially absorbing Eastmans minutes. I think we would have still been a very thin depth team off the bench.

Hated DD getting hurt but his injury has allowed DSE to flurrish and grow as a player. I guess he is exhibt A that giving a guy minutes and letting him go often can only be positive.

He started the first game at BYU.
I think he would have been a regular starter, and CR would have been 6th man .

If EM regains his confidence, he will be an added spark like DSE. They have both shown to be tough kids on the court, with defensive presence and ways to get to the hoop.

Strangely without the injuries we are worse than we were last year.

I think before you open your mouth about me not willing to give credit to JL for what he has done...

drat, apparently misquoted again...will it never end...

here was my exact statement...
... are you willing to also give Bradley and their coach "a lot of credit" for last year??

just a simple question I asked...that's all...
nothing saying you were unwilling to do anything....

If someone asks you "are you having a good day?" do you respond with
"before you open your mouth about me having a bad day..."?

As I read that article in today's PJStar, I was stunned at their injuries. To have three of your four highest scorers out for "probably" the year and have a 15-11 record is very very good.

Bradley definitely needs to be perimeter oriented defense tonight. They need to push Indiana State's offense way out. If Bradley keeps them under 10 3s for the night you can count on Bradley going to 9-7 in conference and 14-12 overall.

They are doing better than many expected, but the losses have hurt them significantly...
Actually, they did accumulate most of their wins before they lost even one of their players...

they were 8-4 when their first player, Kelly (their 4th leading scorer) got injured (so they have gone 7-7 without Kelly)

then they were 10-4 when they lost Lathan late in the game when they came here and played Bradley.
They then went 1-5 in their NEXT six games (counting the Bradley game when Lathan left early) without Lathan.
They then tried to bring Lathan back against SIU - and he helped them get a victory, but he wasn't fully ready and reinjured himself in the ISU game and is now done for the season.
So they are really just 3-7 in the games played without Lathan since his injury in the Bradley game.

they also I have noticed have had a lot of games for the taking that they ultimately fell short on, simply like us, because of their lack of depth and being unable to close teams out or finish comebacks.
